Carpenter killed trying to
put out house fire
KIANGAN, Ifugao – A
carpenter was killed while trying to put out fire which razed a house here to
the ground Tuesday around 930 a.m. at Sitio Ayuyu, Upper Poblacion. The 23-yer-old victim was named as Jayson
Duyapat Dulnuan.
The bungalow was owned
by Felisa Namillid Paay, 65, married, farmer.
Police investigation
disclosed while Paay was washing clothes outside their house leaving her 3-year
old grandson Alf Christoff Namillid Paay playing inside their house,
she noticed their house was on fire that prompted her to call for help.
Dulnuan
and Florentino Kindipan Taguiling, 51 carpenteres both working at a Church
construction near the house helped in putting out the fire. However, Dulnuan
accidentally held a live wire and was electrocuted. Dulnuan was rushed to
the Kiangan municipal health clinic for medical attention but later he was
declared dead by Dr. Cherry Guyguyon Namujhe.
The cadaver of the
victim was brought to their house by his immediate relatives.
Further
investigation disclosed the said grandson of Paay took a match box in the
kitchen and went to their bedroom and lighted their mosquito net making the
fire spread out.
Kitchen equipment and
utensils and cash amounting to P21,000 were burned. Police pegged damage at
P300,000. A dog was also burned in the fire.
British national gets
unruly in Baguio girlie bar; mauled
BAGUIO CITY – The
manager of Star City Disco Bar here filed charges for malicious mischief
against a British national for creating trouble in the establishment making an
employee to maul him.
A police report said
the incident happened Tuesday around 3:30 a.m. at the girlie bar here along
Lower Magsaysay Road. Charged was Robert John Bailey, 48, married, financial
consultant and a resident of Lucao, Dagupan, Pangasinan who was mauled
by John Loyd Langawin Zabala, 20, waiter.
Investigation
disclosed Bailey and his companion John Andrew Davis went inside the bar
and created trouble wherein Bailey threw a bottle of beer on the glass wall
causing it to be broken. The management of the bar tried to pacify them but
Bailey became more unruly. Zabala hit the head of Bailey with a
bottle of beer wounding him.
Responding cops
arrested both parties and brought them to polide station. Alberto Torres Ong,
manager of the bar filed a case for malicious mischief against Bailey.
Drunk farmer stabs 2 men in Villavicios
store
VILLAVICIOSA, Abra –
Police reported a stabbing incident here Tuesday around 9 p.m. at Barangay
Ap-apaya wherein victims were identified as Nelson Lopez
Mendoza, 42, farmer and Jay-ar Bondoy Mendoza 19. The
suspect was named as Rey Mariano Salvador, 40, farmer of Sabnangan, Luba
town.
Investigation
disclosed while the victims were buying liquor at Medy’s Store the
suspect arrived and a heated argument ensued between Mendoza and the latter. At
the height of their argument, the suspect stabbed the victims with a
broken bottle of liquor.
Jay-ar was wounded on his right chest while Nelson was
stabbed on his left chest. Both victims were rushed by concerned citizen to
Villaviciosa Community Medicare Hospital for treatment. Nelson was transfered
to Abra Provincial Hospital where he was confined.
The suspect was
arrested by cops to police station where charges were prepared against
him. Motive was misunderstanding due to drunkenness.
Farmer shot inside residence in Dolores
DOLORES, Abra – A
young man was allegedly shot and hurt in his house here at Barangay Bayaan Dec
20. around 9:30 p.m.
Police responded at
the residence of Eric Tubadeza Espiritu but he was not
around. His common law wife said
her husband left their residence at about 5
p.m.that day.
Investigation
disclosed the gunfire emanated from the residence of the Espiritus. At about
11:20 p.m. same date, investigator of Dolores police received a cellphone call
from provincial police office informing them that a victim of shooting incident
was undergoing medical treatment at Abra Provincial Hospital in Bangued.
The investigator immediately
proceeded at the said hospital and identified the victim
as Eric Tubadeza Espiritu, 26, farmer.
The victim was shot on
his right buttock. Motive is yet to be determined as investigation is still
going on.
Man knifes victim; flees
BAGUIO CITY – A drunk
man challenged another to a fistfight, slashed the latter with a knife, ran
away and is now the object of a manhunt.
A police report said
the incident happened Dec. 18 around 6 a.m. here at Block 4, Hilltop. The
victim was identified as Julius Tumayoc Balusdan, who was knifed reportedly by Remigio
Jamandre, both residents of the area. The drunk Jamandre challenged Balusdan to a fight but the latter
ignored him and went to the basement to buy a cigarette. After buying, he went
back at the place of incident and was chatting with his friend Speedy Picoy
when Jamandre without warning, brought out a bladed weapon and attacked the
complainant. Balusdan parried the attack but his left elbow was cut. Picoy
pacified them and shouted at the complainant to run. Balusdan sought police
assistance but when they returned to the area, the suspect was nowhere to be
found.
Young mother, child mauled
by man in Tublay
TUBLAY, Benguet – A
man is now at large after mauling a yo0ung mother and her son without any reason
here Monday around 12 noon. Police said the incident happened at Sitio Pasanan,
km 19, Ambassador. Victims were named as Nida Calasiao Sabado, 28, married, and her son
Sky, 3 natives of Kibungan town but at present residing at Lower Gayase, Wangal, La Trinidad.
The suspect was
identified as Fernan Magastino Calinis, Pasanan resident.
Investigation
disclosed that Nida and the suspect were having conversation and later the victim
went inside their shanty to fix her things before going home. Without any
reason, the suspect suddenly entered the shanty and mauled the Nida several
times with a piece of wood. When the victim weakened and down on the on the
floor, the suspect mauled the victim’s son. When the suspect pulled the minor
out of the shanty, Nida escaped and asked for help from nearby residents but
the suspect escaped. Victims were treated at Benguet General Hospital. Cops
are now looking for Calinis.
Drowned farmer found floating
at Apayao River
STA. MARCELA, Apayao –
The body of a farmer was found floating here along Apayao River at Basrangay
Imelda Dec. 19 around 2:30 p.m. The victim was identified as Amando Tacula
Amguid, 53, of Barangay Musimot, Kabugao town.
The incident was
reported to police by village chief Rey Gorospe of Barangay Imelda. Police and
responders found the drowned body wearing black T-shirt, no lower garments with
scars of stitches on his right arm. The cadaver was brought to Sta. Marcela
Municipal hall where the victim’s daughter Jenel Tacdag Amguid, 23, accompanied
by Kabugao police identified the cadaver as that of Amando Amguid.
Bontoc land dispute set
to be heard
BONTOC, Mountain
Province -- A land dispute is set to set to be heard by Alab barangay officials
here after Perlas Banwa Mayion, 68, widow, resident of Dantay, Alab with her
nephew Harrison Afali Banwa, 43, complained to Bontoc police against Rosemarie
B. Madadsec, 55; Francis D. Bragado, 51 and Christopher D. Bragado, 48, both
government employees.
Initial investigation
disclosed the suspects claimed ownership over a portion of the said lot wherein
fences were installed over the area declared under Camilo L. Maiyon, late
husband of Perlas Maiyon.
Baguio drug suspects
arrested
BAGUIO CITY --
Ronald Magbag, 34, and Jason Oliver 32, were nabbed for allegedly selling
shabu worth P50,000 during a sting in Barangay Andres Bonifacio here Dec.
16.
Juvenal Azurin,
director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cordillera, said suspects
are members of a drug ring operating in the cities of Baguio and Olongapo.
PNP superintendent bumps,
hurts kid
BAGUIO CITY – A police
superintendent was booked after he allegedly bumped and injured a female kid
here Dec. 19 around 3 p.m. along Navy Base road.
The victim was identified
as Jhen Ashley Baptista, 7, grade one pupil at Ilocos Sur Elementary School and
staying at Purok 7 Navy Base.
A police report said
the Honda Civic with plate no. ZJA-780 was driven by Supt. Petronilo Guidangen, 44, assigned at national headquarters-IAS
in Manila and a resident of Navy Base.
Investigation
disclosed that the latter came from their parking area then turned left heading
down towards the wide space of the road and while heading towards of Leonard Wood Road
he accidentally hit the victim who was injured and brought by the same driver
to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
Responding traffic
investigators took the driver’s license and OR/CR of the vehicle and requested
medico-legal for alcoholic breath test.
5 hurt in Tabuk vehicular
accident
TABUK CITY, Kalinga --
Five persons were hurt here Dec. 19 when a motorcycle and a tricycle collided along
the provincial road at Barangay Laya.
Investigation
disclosed that the Honda motorcycle driven by Peter Siblagan, 44, was going
south to Dagupan while the tricycle driven by Julius Carag, 29, was on the
opposite direction. Siblagan encroached lane of tricycle after overtaking vehicles.
As a result, the tricycle bumped the motorcycle causing it to tumble. Siblagan
was hurt on his forehead and brought to St. Paul Hospital, Tuguegarao City for
medication while Carag and his passengers Angelica Dacanay, 15; Rio Christian
Segoma, 18; Marcial Merin, 21 and Jolibee Merin 26, all residents of Pantar
Laya East were injured on different parts of their body and brought to Kalinga
Provincial Hospital for treatment. . Both vehicles were taken to police
station.
Drinking spree leads to
stabbing
TAYUM, Abra – A
drinking spree here led to stabbing of an unemployed man Monday around 2 a.m. at
Barangay Patucannay,. The victim was identified as Herminio Nangilaya Tarinay,
35. He was reportedly stabbed by Predo Penida of Lingtan, Bangued.
Police said both were
having a drinking spree inside the house of Mark Francis “Macmac” Arzadon when
a heated argument ensued between them. The victim went home and while he was on
his way, the suspect followed him and stabbed the victim once on his back using
a kitchen knife. The suspect fled while the victim was brought by his sister to
Abra Provincial Hospital for treatment where he was confined.
Bocag hurt in fight
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –
A barangay kagawad was hurt when he was hit with a hard object while trying the stop a fight here Dec. 18, around
11:30 p.m. at Alapang Junction. The victim was identified as Gregorio
Paran Gosgos, 62, barangay kagawad of Alapang while the suspect was named
as Ronel De Guzman Guzman, farmer, of Makiboy, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.
Investigation
disclosed that the victim with village watchmen received information that there
was an ongoing fight at the junction. When the victim approached the suspect
together with his companion and identified himself as barangay kagawad to
pacify the group, the suspect hit the head of victim with a hard object. Gosgos
was brought to Benguet General Hospital for treatment by his son and the barangay
ranods of Alapang. The suspect was released and the case was referred to barangay
officials.
Lamit mauling leads to
another mauling
LAMUT, Ifugao – A man
who mauled another was mauled by the latter’s companions here Dec. 18 around 6:4o
p.m. at Poblacion West Lamut. A police
report said , the incident started in front of Bahingawan’s residence near the
waiting shed, when victim was identified as Geofrey Dulnuan Dulnuan, 46,
widower, was punched on his face by
suspect Shallen Quintero Dimmic, 25, farmer of Barangay Umilag.
Investigation
disclosed the victim and suspect were arguing at the said place when suddenly
the victim allegedly tried to attack the suspect but suspect raising his two
hands pleaded not to fight with him two times.
Dimmic allegedly got
irked and punched Dulnuan hitting his mouth. Dulnuan fell on the ground and his
head slammed on the cement pavement. After the incident, Dimmic ran towards
Tulac’s residence but was followed by Dulnuan’s companions Robert In-uyay y Tapo, 27 and
Marcelo Rosal y Dacuso, 19 and mauled him. Dulnuan who had mouth and head injuries
was brought by a concerned citizen to Doctor Dela Cruz Clinic for treatment while
Dimmic was brought by the responding policemen to Panopdopan District Hospital
and subsequently brought to Lamut police station.
Call center agent mauler
challenges cops to fistfight
BAGUIO CITY – A call
center agent was mauled here by a vehicle painter Dec. 18, around 8:40 p.m. at
Badihoy St., Guisad Surong.
The victim was
identified as Prester Abeya Caluza, 22, who was reportedly mauled
by Daimler Silvano Ligutan, 22, stay in worker at Big Shot Auto Trade,
Badihoy St., Guisad Surong.
A police report said
the victim was also threatened with a kitchen knife by Gribert Ducusin
Baniqued, 19.
Investigation
disclosed the victim and his companion were walking when they met the suspects
who were under the influence of liquor. Ligutan allegedly bumped the victim and
suddenly delivered fist blows on his head. When the victim turned his back,
Baniqued allegedly drew a kitchen knife then chased the victim prompting him to
seek assistance from bystanders at the area who then chased and mauled the suspects.
Police arrested the
suspects even as Baniqued resisted and uttered unsavory words against arresting
officers. Both suspects were brought to police station. Baniqued continued
resisting while being brought out from the mobile car and became more unruly,
shouting to police officers at the top of his voice “Putang ina nyong mga pulis
kayo” and even challenged SPO2 Thomas Marcelo to a fist fight.
Cases for illegal possession
of deadly weapon) and resistance and disobedience to persons in authority were
filed against Baniqued on complaint of SPO4 Frederick Marcelino and Marcelo.
Cases were set for inquest.
Young man mauled by visitors
in wedding
LAMUT, Ifugao – A
certain Glen Mark Calimlim Fernandez, 20, resident of Subdivision, Poblacion
West here made police complaint that on Dec. 17, at about 4 p.m., he was allegedly mauled by Kelvin
Jake Lalan, Arcel Tib-ong, Kenneth Pulido and other unidentified suspects, all
residents of Kiangan town.
A police report said
Fernandez and his friend were drinking liquor while they were attending wedding
celebration at Yakengon’s residence.
The suspects who were
also visitors at the occasion manifested annoyance at the victim who decided to
go home to avoid confrontation. However, when the victim was already at their
backyard, the suspects followed and mauled him causing several injuries on his
head and body. The victim managed to escape and sought assistance from his
relatives who brought him to Panodpodan District Hospital for treatment. The
report didn’t say if the maulers were arrested.
62-year-old farmer
threatens to kill Lagayan folks
LAGAYAN, Abra – A
complaint was filed against a farmer for threatening to kill people after he
hacked a store here Dec. 18 around 6 a.m. A police report said they received a
cellphone call from barangay chairman Rexor Jay Molina of Barangay Collago that
a commotion was reported to him by a concerned citizen in Collago.
Initial investigation
disclosed around 4:30 p.m. that day, the suspect, identified as Andres Martinez
Sales, 62, went to the house of the complainant, Myrna Talingdan, 30, to
buy a cellphone load wherein the latter alleged that the suspect seemed to be
under the influence of liquor.
While the two were
talking, the suspect was apparently irked by other bystanders and left the said
place. After a few minutes, the suspect came back armed with a bolo and threatened
the complainant. Because of fear, the complainant went inside her house and
locked the door. The suspect then hacked the GI sheet roof of the house of the
complainant.
After the suspect left
the house, he went to the house of kagawad Warlita Guzman, 54, and also
threatened her with the bolo and shouted “Patayen kayo amin (I will kill all of
you.)”
Guzman went inside
their house and called Molina for assistance. When responding personnel arrived
at the said place, they found Sales at his residence. The suspect with
complainants and Molina were all invited to Lagayan police station for investigation. At the
station, the complainants insisted that the said incident be referred first to
the barangay for possible settlement and refused to file formal charges against
suspect. The case was then referred to the office of the barangay chairman of
Collago.
Carpenter arrested for threatening
to kill family
BAGUIO CITY – A
carpenter was arrested after threatening to kill his wife and children here at
barangay Guisad Surong.
Investigation
disclosed the suspect arrived home under the influence of liquor coming from
his sibling’s house. The victim had just finished doing the laundry and
wrapping the gift of their child when the suspect started to utter unsavory
words against her.
Then
he threatened her by repeatedly saying “Patayen ka, patayek sikayo nga agiina,
agpapamilya (I will kill you all, the whole family.)” The victim told him to
stop because she was tired but he tried to punch her while uttering threatening
words
making her terrified. She went to their neighbor and used the landline to ask
for police assistance.
Responding police arrest
the suspect and both parties were brought to police station. Case was set for
inquest
