UB, SLU to compete in nat’l basketball finals

BAGUIO CITY- University of Baguio recently hosted Samahan ng Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) 3X3 Under 17 Pambangsang Tatluhan Cordillera Administrative Region leg.
Saint Louis University- Laboratory High School Team A won as champion in the men’s division of the basketball tournament while Baguio City High School was awarded champion for women’s division.
Both winning teams are going to compete in SBP 3x3 Under-17 Pambansang Tatluhan National Finals on May 5 and 6 at the Robinson’s Place Manila.
Cordillera Career Development College Team C was awarded 1st runner up in the men’s division followed by University of Baguio as 2nd runner up.
In women’s edition, SLU Team C won as 1st runner up and UB as 2nd runner up.
According to Danny Soria, FIBA Commissioner, the tournament is a project of the Internation Basketball Federation wherein 17 regions of the Philippines will conduct eliminations for them to join the nationals league.
“Ang gustong ipalabas ng ating SBP o ang Samahan ng Basketbol ng Pilipinas ang galling ng mga Pilipino sa larong tatluhan,” said Peter Rey Bautista, regional sirector of SBP-CAR
Coach Marlon Pawid of SLU saod their team will have to double  efforts because their players will first compete at the Palarong Pambansa before competing at SBP’s Pampansang tatluhan. -- Trizha Ocampo

 Baguio football summer clinic on


BAGUIO CITY -- The Cordillera Goshenland Football Club (CGFC) is conducting a free football summer clinic for elementary and high school students called SUMVAC CGFC Milo Clinic.
The clinic is conducted annually by the CGFC every summer vacation. It is participated by different schools around Baguio City. Their aim is to recruit new members for their club and also for the growth of football here in the city. Organizers said they would like their athletes to use football as their scholarship once they enter college.
Training is Monday to Friday at Athletic Bowl or Melvin Jones Grandstand. It starts at 3 up to 5p,m. Participants only pay entrance fee in Athletic bowl.
SUMVAC CGFC Milo Clinic is still open to new participants. – LJ Reyes
