PUGO, La Union – This town is being pushed as eco-tourism
destination.
Last week, Gov.
Francisco Ortega III visited PUGAD (Pugo Adventure) , one of destinations the province is promoting.
Owned by the family of
Pugo Mayor Priscilla Martin, PUGAD is not just a resort; it is also a theme
park with swimming pools, a 250-meter zipline, sports adventure, and a mini-zoo
located on a natural mountain environment.
“I’m here because I
heard that a lot people come here to enjoy the great facility and I want to
experience for myself because I have a vision for the province to transform La
Union to become the heart of agri-tourism in northern Luzon on 2025,” Ortega
said.
He said he had been
going around the municipalities and checking local tourist spots to find out
what can be done to make them competitive.
He said he was
impressed with the facilities of PUGAD.
The governor tried the
zipline and rappelled.
Ortega said the core
strategy is to build a tourism circuit in the entire province, like Pugo which
is part the southern-eastern tourism circuit. It includes the municipalities of
Rosario, Santo Tomas and Tubao towns.
He said they want the
municipalities to complement each other in boosting tourism and developing
agriculture.
