NYC urges young filmmakers to join Sine Kabataan Film Festival

BAGUIO CITY -- The National Youth Commission is calling on young adults who are short film enthusiasts to join the NYC Sine Kabataan Short Film Festival.
Open to all filmmakers 18 to 24 years old, entries must have a 5 – minute maximum running time and depicts how the youth look into present issues, namely  health such as teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and mental health; on education that includes  out – of – school – youths, bullying and lack of access; Security and peace – youth in conflict with the law or in conflicted areas or those involve in peace building activity,  and family values – domestic violence, abandonment and effects of migration.
Film entries must have been previously produced or within year 2016 and 2017 and must not have been featured in any local or international film festival nor have won in any film competitions. Short films entered in school or intercollegiate competitions may join.
NYC also reminds interested young filmmakers that their entry must adhere to all existing laws related to film production, including the copyright law on the use of music or musical background.  
Competition requirements include duly accomplished application form; five DVD copies of the film in AVI format and regular 5x5 inches case with slip – on cover containing the entry title, total running time, genre, production company (owner) address, contact number and the director’s name; poster design and 30 – second movie trailer playable in AVI format.
The above requirements must be submitted to the NYC office at 3rd Floor, West Insula Condominium, West Avenue, Quezon City on or before June 30.
The Sine Kabataan aims to give young people the opportunity to creatively contemplate on the issues they are contemplating and the platform to express their aspirations on how to the issues should be addressed.
“Through Sine Kabataan the youth can shed light on the complex issues of their generation, so the public may understand and support them”, NYC Commissioner for Luzon Percival Cendaña said.

“Sine Kabataan challenges the youth to channel their creative energies for meaningful change through their stories”, he added.  -- PIA CAR
