 Ifugao miner with P90-K bounty nabbed for rape

BAGUIO CITY – A small-scale miner wanted for rape with a P90,000 bounty for his capture was arrested here Wednesday around 12 noon at KMS Bus Lines Terminal along Otek St, Rizal Park by police.
Arrested was Bernard Bitaol Wacoy, 44, of Baang, Hungduan, Ifugao.
                Judge Ester Piscoso-Flor, RTC Br 34, Banaue, Ifugao earlier issued warrant for his arrest.

Man, 4-year-old son shot dead

STA. ANA, Cagayan -- Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a man and his four-year-old son here Tuesday.
Leody Semana Sr., 42, was carrying his son Lor Jean in front of their house here in Barangay Sta. Clara when they were fired at.
Chief Insp. Saturnino Soriano, Sta. Ana police chief, said Semana is not on their drugs watchlist, but was tagged in the killing of a certain Jeremy Agraan in Barangay Sta. Clara.

Card game turns bloody; Trinidad player stabbed

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A card game turned bloody when two players had an argument which resulted to the stabbing of one.
Police said the incident happened Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. here along km 3, No. JA 005 at  Barangay Pico. The victim was identified as Reil Ajon Campuso, 25, while the suspect was Malard Cogaybo Sachico, 20.
Investigation disclosed the victim and the suspect were playing tong-it  inside the boarding house of a certain Pascua when they had a heated argument that resulted to a commotion that was pacified later. The victim went out of the area and noticed blood oozing from his abdomen. He was immediately brought to Benguet General Hospital for medical treatment.
Responding cops arrested the suspect and confiscated the weapon.

 Two men gunned down in Pangasinan shootings

URDANETA CITY -- Danilo Cariaga, 68, a retired American serviceman, was in a Toyota Fortuner when he was shot here in Barangay San Vicente. His driver was unhurt. Meanwhile, Piladelfo Joaquin, 64, was driving a motorcycle on his way to a farm when he was fired at in Barangay Macarang, Mangatarem. 

  Beneco post falls; hits three vehicles 

BAGUIO CITY – An electric post fell down around 2:35 a.m. Wednesday here along Tenerace San Vicente Road hitting a public utility jeep,  Isuzu Trooper owned by Andrew Wadiwad and pick-up truck owned by SPO4 Tony Cong-o.
Police investigation bared a tree was uprooted, hit the Benguet Electric Coop. post then collapsing and hitting the three parked vehicles. The wires could not hold the post when it fell. No person was injured during the incident.

 Man wanted for estafa, illegal recruitment nabbed

SABLAN, Benguet – A certain Anjo Cariño Sacley was arrested here Wednesday for illegal recruitment and estafa. The suspect was brought to CIDG-CAR and later turned over to the court. 

 2 killed in Cagayan gunfight with cops

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan -- Lito Quintua and a man identified as “Jong” were killed when they allegedly traded shots with police officers in the towns of Lal-lo and Gattaran, respectively, on July 29.
Police said they recovered five plastic sachets said to contain shabu from Quintua and two from Jong.

 1 of four thieves nabbed for stealing car stereo

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested Monday a certain Jhorson Paran Tinguey 29, of Lubas La Trinidad Benguet for allegedly entering a vehicle here and stole a car stereo worth P7,000.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. along Lower Magsaysay Avenue, fronting JCF Electronics on complaint of Johnny Colaba Felix, 45, businessman.
Investigation disclosed that David Dalilis Canao who was sleeping inside a vehicle behind the parked vehicle of the victim was awakened when he heard somebody was opening the door of his vehicle. David saw four male persons go to the vehicle of the victim while one entered through the window then opened the back door allowing another one to enter the vehicle while two others served as lookouts. David immediately called the victim. After taking the car stereo, two suspects flagged and boarded a taxi then left while two suspects stayed near the area Felix and David went near the two suspects and immediately held them but one of the suspects managed to escape. Personnel of cops Station 2 arrested Tinguey.

Five goat thieves nabbed in Bacnotan

BACNOTAN, La Union – Five suspected goat thieves operating in Pangasinan and La Union were arrested in Barangay Poblacion in this town on Tuesday.
Boyet Flores, Willy Fernandez, Jose Estacio, Jonathan Osilla and Bernie Sabala were collared at a checkpoint after an inspection of their car yielded four goats, said Chief Inspector Reynaldo Soria, Bacnotan police chief.
Soria said they received calls from several police chiefs that the car used by the suspects had been spotted in areas where several goats were stolen.
He said the suspects target goats being pastured near highways.
The suspects said they would deliver the goats to a restaurant in Dagupan City. – Jun Elias 

Kiangan farmer nabbed for homicide

KIANGAN, Ifugao – A farmer wanted for homicide identified as Clarence Allaga Guitobon, 39 of Sitio Bae, Ambabag here was arrested by cops Tuesday in his house.
This, after judge Romeo U. Habbiling of RTC Branch 14, Lagawe, Ifugao issued warrant against him with a recommended bail bond of P40, 000.

 Security guard shot dead in Bulacan

STA. MARIA, Bulacan -- Security guard Jobert Guan and his colleague were riding a motorcycle on their way home after their night duty when two men on another motorbike shot Guan several times when they pulled over at a convenience store here in Barangay Pulong Buhangin.
Guan tried to escape, but succumbed to gunshot wounds some 500 meters away from the store. His companion was unhurt.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive for the killing.  

 

 Minor stabbed in Mankayan
MANKAYAN, Benguet – A certain Dark Bernardo Paryawan, 17 was allegedly stabbed here by Marcial Molina Soriano, 25, both residents of Barangay Tabio along Km 3.
A certain Joey Alba rushed the victim to the rural health unit after informing police of the incident.
 Investigation disclosed the suspect and victim with Jeffrey Quijada Molina were having a drinking spree inside their shanty when two of their companions identified as Macky and Pepe, who came from a videoke bar arrived and caused noise due to their drunkenness.  The suspect tried to pacify Macky and heated arguments ensued. Macky continued creating noise and their arguments worsened until Molina and the victim intervened.
The three, initiated by Molina mauled the suspect which prompted him to retaliate. Soriano grabbed a bottle of a 2x2 Ginebra San Miguel and broke it with a GI pipe. The victim attacked and they wrestled on the floor until he incidentally stabbed the victim using the broken bottle. As a result, the victim sustained seven inches laceration on left side of his body. He was referred by his attending physician to Lepanto Hospital, where he was confined therein. The suspect was arrested.

Farmer drowns in Bugallon river

BUGALLON, Pangasinan  – The decomposing body of a farmer believed to have drowned was found floating in a river in Barangay Portic in this town on Tuesday.
Amado Soriano, 73, was last seen on July 30 when he went out to look for his cow in Sitio Palawan, Barangay Cayanga.
A man said he saw Soriano crossing the river. He said the victim could have been swept away by the strong current amid heavy rains spawned by Typhoon Gorio. – Eva Visperas

 Lending officer robbed of P15-K, cell phone

PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A finance officer of a lending firm was held up by sill unidentified suspects who got his collection  worth  P15,000, wallet containing P500 and cell phone.  
Police said the incident happened Monday around 4:30 p.m. along the boundary here of barangays Limos and Allaguia.
The victim was identified as Primo Dabbay Narag, 22, of ASA Lending Institution.

Shabu pusher shot dead in Cagayan

APARRI, Cagayan -- Benjamin Calisnao, alias Sparrow was killed by lawmen when he allegedly engaged a policeman who posed as a buyer of shabu here in Barangay Punta. Sachets of shabu, marked money and a gun were recovered from the fatality.

 Security guard nabbed for illegal bullets 

LAMUT, Ifugao – A security guard was arrested here Monday by lawmen for having in his possession illegal bullets for different guns. This after presiding judge Romeo U. Habbiling of RTC Branch 14, Lagawe, issued search warrant against against Rosendo Tinnom Buccahan, 25, of Barangay Pieza.
Inventory of seized items was conducted in the presence of  barangay chief Mateo A. Nalliw and kagawad Porcicio A. Supnad.

Cagayan bocap killed in buy-bust

PAMPONA, Cagayan -- Village councilman Elizar Ubias allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents here in  Barangay Curva, Pamplona Tuesday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Far North Hospital in Luna, Apayao.
Ubias is on the list of “high-value” drug pushers in the town, police said.


Man slain in Bulacan shootout

NORZAGARAY, Bulacan -- Michael Librea engaged anti-drug operatives in a shootout here in Barangay Matictic on July 30 which resulted to his death.
Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, bared this saying a pen, a gun, a sachet of shabu and marked money were recovered from the fatality.

Patayan nabbed for murder in Apayao

PUDTOL, Apayao – Lawmen arrested here Monday a certain Peter Riquin Patayan, 68, married, retired government employee for murder. He was arrested in Barangay Swan after Francisco S. Donato, designate judge of RTC, Branch 26, 2nd Judicial Region at Luna, Apayao issued warrant against him.

 Bizman’s pickup hits councilor’s Fortuner 

BAGUIO CITY – A Toyota Hi-Lux pickup owned and driven by a businessman hit a Toyota Fortuner was owned by a city councilor here Monday around 10:30 p.m. resulting to confiscation of both drivers’ licenses and OR/CRs of both vehicles.  
A police report said the accident happened along Cariño Street fronting Rowen's Bar where the pick-up driven by Peter Ana-as Kawi, 51 of Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet was leaving maneuvering backwards when its rear hit the Fortuner parked unattended at the side of the road, owned by Councilor Benny Olowan Bomogao, 46. Both involved vehicles incurred damages.

Carpenter shoots Abra military aide  

LICUAN-BAAY, Abra – A carpenter is now in hot water after reportedly shooting a military auxiliary member here around 8:30 a.m. on July 30 at Sitio Baquero, Barangay Nalbuan.
The victim was identified as Odilo Barcena Valera, 39, while the suspect was Winifredo Salabit Ganub a, 63.
Police probe bared the victim was traversing the Abra-Kalinga national road on board of a motorcycle when he passed by the suspect’s store. The suspect allegedly shouted to the victim to stop then hurriedly went inside his store.
The victim continued slowly and when he was around 40 to 50 meters away, the suspect came out and fired upon the victim but missed using allegedly a long Cal 22. The suspect surrendered to police after the incident but didn’t surrender his firearm. Both parties agreed and requested that the case be endorsed to the Office of barangay chief Joseph L. Brillantes for settlement.

Cops slay man  in Isabela buy-bust

BURGOS, Isabela -- Joey Malobago was shot dead by cops when allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to policemen who posed as buyers here in Barangay Rania on Monday. Shabu, marked money and a gun were allegedly recovered from the fatality.

5 hurt as vehicles collide along Halsema Highway  

BUGUIAS, Benguet – Five persons were seriously injured when a Tamaraw FX wagon and Starex van collided here
July 30 around 5:20 p.m. along Halsema Highway, Nakiangan, Abatan.
The Tamaraw was driven by Johnny Waclin Gum-o, 24, farmer who was with his three passengers identified as Alfred Bilit Galap, 17; Leonardo Topkil Biag, 17 and Jomar Magawen Waclin, 17, all residents of Cada, Balili, Mankayan town.
Meanwhile, the Starex was driven by Robert Ciano Bancado, 50, businessman, with his wife  Shirley, 42.
Investigation disclosed the south bound Tamaraw encroached the opposite lane and collided with the Starex. As a result, both drivers and passengers were injured and brought to Lutheran Hospital, Abatan, for  treatment by police.

 6 killed in gunfights with Bulacan cops

SAN JOE DEL MONTE, Bulacan -- Remi Passi, Roberto Mateo Jr., Michael Ricafrente, Jubille Recafrente, Nelfa David, Jhunel David, an alias Joel and an unidentified man were killed when they allegedly engaged policemen in shootouts in Barangay Minuyan, San Jose del Monte; Bayugo, Meycauayan; Plaridel and Marilao on Tuesday.Police said the fatalities yielded guns, sachets of shabu and marked money.


Man kills self at neighbor’s house

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A man reportedly committed suicide at the house of his neighbor in Barangay Centro, Lal-lo, Cagayan on July 30. 
The body of Florante Paat, 51, was discovered by his eight-year-old daughter hanging from the ceiling of the kitchen at the house of retired soldier Serafin Camacho, 86. An electric cord was looped around the neck of Paat.

Responding policemen said they recovered a suicide note. – Raymund Catindig
