CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga
— A suspected gun-for-hire tagged by police as Central Luzon’s No. 3 most
wanted person for killing local politicians and policemen was arrested last
Sunday in Barangay Bulihan, Plaridel, Bulacan.
Chief Superintendent
Amador V. Corpus, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, identified the
suspect as Guilbert de Castro, alias “Gilbert,” of Barangay Taal, Pulilan,
Bulacan.
Corpus declined to
identify De Castro’s victims, but said the suspect was facing murder and
frustrated homicide charges before the courts in Malolos City.
He said the joint
police team, led by Supt. Frankie Candelario, confiscated De Castro’s cellphone
during his arrest; and stored in it were valuable information about
assassination targets and the people who contracted the killing.
Corpus hinted that
names of politicians and policemen were stored in the suspected hitman’s
cellphone.
Meanwhile, the PRO3
director said that anti-drugs operations will be conducted non-stop in Central
Luzon in order to “ensure the safety and security of the general public.”
His statement came
amid the rounding up of nine other drug pushers over the weekend in Olongapo
City, Pampanga, Zambales, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija and the killing of an alias
“Badong” in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan.
