19 men nabbed for gambling in Baguio  

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested 19 persons here last week for illegal gambling.
Fifteen were arrested playing drop ball along Otek St. night of Dec. 2.
Nabbed were Santos, Agustin, 23; Aries Vicente, 31; Jaype Matias, 33; Carlo Torres, 35; Michael Ponce Cabigao, 40; Andy Divina, 48; Jay Pascual, 28; Tony Tamiles, 44; John Lim, 22; Jonathan Medina, 37; Alisood Maruhom; Rolando Abalos, 47; Frnasklin Andrada, 43; Jonathan Moreno, 41 and Randy Puguon, 46.
Confiscated from the suspects were P29, 235 cash, two cellphones and gambling paraphernalia. 
In another operation, four gamblers were caught playing cards at the 3rd floor of Batawa Building, Agrix Bokawkan early morning of Dec. 2.
Nabbed were Julius Guerero David, 40; Simon Oydot Allasiw, 55; Reynaldo Siblawan Sobilla, 34; and John Badal Aplasen, 36, all residents of La Trinidad, Benguet.
Confiscated from them were P1, 200.00 bet money, playing cards and gambling paraphernalia. 
All arrested personalities are now under custody police while illegal gambling chargeds were set to be filed against them.

Farmer hacked to death in Ilocos Sur

BURGOS, Ilocos Sur -- A farmer was allegedly hacked to death by his neighbor who accused him of having an affair with his wife in Barangay Paduros, Burgos, Ilocos Sur on Nov. 31.
Freddie Arreola, 53, was attacked by Virgilio Almazan, 41, during a drinking spree at around 10 p.m., according to reports reaching the office of Senior Insp. Leonilo Ancheta, Burgos police chief.
Arreola was brought to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Motorbike collides with bus; 2 dead

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan  — Two persons died when their motorcycle collided with a Victory Liner bus along the highway in Barangay Mabilao in this town on Tuesday night. Police said Noel Disu, 18, and his companion Darwin Terrado, 18, were declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.Initial investigation showed the accident occurred when the motorcycle swerved to the opposite lane.—Eva Visperas

2 hurt in Bangued as  motorbikes collide 

BANGUED, Abra – Two motorcycle drivers were injured when their vehicles collided here Nov. 30 around 9:30 a.m. on a road at Barangay Lipcan fronting Caltex gas station.

A Pinoy 125 motorcycle, driven by Jonathan Cabiao was traversing the Ubbog-Lipcan Road going towards Barangay Palao and while at gas station collided with a Rusi 110 motorcycle, driven by Mark Venjoe Burton.
Both drivers were injured and brought to Abra provincial hospital by concerned citizen for treatment.
Both motorcycles incurred undetermined cost of damages.  

Complaint filed vs guard for scandal  

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A security guard is now wanted for throwing stones at a building here along km 5, Pico while under influence of liquor on Nov. 30 around 11 p.m. Charges for malicious mischief and scandal were filed against a certain Rogelio Bogawan by Mia Shongdawen Samson, 32, of Sablan and resident of place of incident . The security guard is a neighbor of the complainant.
The complainant said Bogawon went outside their residence, shouting and calling her attention.  The suspect was shouting “nalastog ni lakay mo (your hubby is arrogant)” commanding her husband to come out of the building while throwing stones at the building several times. The prompted her to call the police but when they came, the suspect had already fled. The complainant said she wanted the case referred to barangay officials.

Cagayan Valley police gets guns, ammo

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan — The Cagayan Valley police received the first batch of new high-powered firearms and ammunition on Monday. Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde turned over 480 M16 rifles, 350 units of 9mm pistols, various types of ammunition and accessories to two police field units in the region.Albayalde said the new guns and ammunition are expected to heighten the police offensive against New People’s Army rebels.—Raymund Catindig

House, expensive vehicles burned

BAGUIO CITY -- A storage area of a house owned by a certain Henry Bayer Ngayawan was burned here 11:15 p.m. Dec. 1 at No. 5, Suello Village.
A KIA SOL vehicle bearing plate no. UTI 261 was also totally burned while another Starex Van bearing plate no. XSF 998 was partially burned. Firemen declared fire out at around 12.10 a.m. of Dec. 2.Cause of fire and cost of damages have yet to be determined.

Motorcycle, car collide, man hurt 

BAGUIO CITY – A motorcycle driver was injured after his vehicle collided with a car here Nov. 30 around 7:30 p.m. along Kennon Road and Sarok Road intersection.
Injured was Ramil Ducusin Gagarao, 20, employee of NAPINTAS Corp. and, a resident of San Fernando, La union. A police report said he was intoxicated when his Suzuki Smash motorcycle bearing plate no. AD 70356 which he was driving collided with a Toyota Altis sedan bearing plate no. NIV 514 driven by Diego De Leon Pascua, 45, married, physician, here of Woodsville Subdivision Camp 7.
 Investigation disclosed the Toyota Altis came from Sarok Road, headed to the city proper. While turning left, the vehicle collided with the motorcycle which came from the city proper and descending to Camp 7. Both vehicles were damaged while the motorcycle rider was injured and brought by emergency staff to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. Licenses of both drivers were confiscated.

Motorbike driver, rider hurt as they hit taxi

BAGUIO CITY – A motorcycle driver and his passenger were injured when their vehicle hit a taxicab here Dec. 1 around 1:45 a.m. along Lower Scout Barrio.
The motorcycle was driven by Gerald Bandao Dulnuan, 26, college student of Loakan-Apugan, Baguio City with his back rider Vergel Nawen Oyangwa, 24, college student, of Lower Dagsian when they hit an Isuzu Hilander taxi bearing license plate no. AYP 215 driven by Romel Pacjilan Detorio, 43, of Mirador Hills, Dominican.
Accordingly, the cab came from the direction of Lower Scout Barrio and ascending and turning left towards Upper Scout Barrio when the motorcycle which came from Upper Scout Barrio and descending towards Dagsian tried to cut the approaching taxi but hit the front portion of said vehicle.
As a result, the driver and the back rider of the motorcycle were injured.
Responding personnel of 911 brought the victims to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment while the taxicab incurred damage on its bumper, hood, grill, right headlight and right signal light. Driver’s licenses of both parties were confiscated.

 Father, son, 6 hurt as men shoot them 

BANGUED, Abra – A father and his 6-year-old son were seriously hurt when they were shot by still unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle in tandem here Dec. 1 around 11:45 p.m. 
A police report said the incident happened at Barangay Bangbangar at the Arc.
Investigation disclosed while victims identified as Reckson Ayaba Latawan, 32 and  his son Learsi Parado Latawan, both of Sitio Consiliman, Zone 2, Bangued, were traversing the road aboard a motorcycle, they were fired upon by the men on board a Honda XRM motorcycle without plate number.
The victims were rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital for treatment while gunmen left heading to Bangued town plaza. Police found cartridge case for Cal, 45 in crime scene. 

 Pine lumber seized in Sagada

SAGADA, Mounain Province – Police confiscated 70 pieces of pine lumber here around 8:40 a.m. of Dec. 1 while they were conducting mobile patrol.
The 315 board feet lumber and valued at P9, 450 were found at Sitio Lukkong, Taccong. The lumber were found on a bushy part of the mountain 30 meters away from the road.
These were brought to Sagada police station.
