SABANGAN, Mountain Province -- The Office of the Congressman through the Dept. of Labor and Employment turned over P237,000 last week for the emergency employment program or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
TUPAD is a community based assistance that aims to provide emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days but not exceeding a minimum of 30 days depending on the nature of work to be performed.
The ceremonial turnover was attended by lawyer Maximo Dalog Jr. who represented Mountain Province Legislative Caretaker Allen Jesse Mangaoang.
Dalog handed the check to Sabangan sanggunian bayan Members led by Vice Mayor Dario Esden witnessed by employees and staff during Monday’s flag raising ceremony.
Dalog cited partnership between the office of the congressman and Dept. of Labor and Employment saying their office will continue to support and sponsor house measures that will favor the labor and employment sectors in Mountain Province.
Dalog also thanked Sabangan government officials as accredited co-partner (ACP) and Public Employment Service officer Gabriel Moguet including Labor Employment Office II Mylene Palaleo of DOLE provincial office for being instrumental in realization of the emergency employment program for the municipality of Sabangan.
Moguet said for this year, TUPAD beneficiaries for the municipality of Sabangan increased in number with 64 from  barangays of Camatagan, Supang, Losad and Poblacion.
He said the emergency employment program for the municipality had been implemented since 2014 because of the constant support from the concerned offices.
Sabangan is second to the municipality of Bauko to implement such emergency employment program.
Beneficiaries of the program will be working on social community projects such as repair and maintenance of common public facilities such as schools and health centers; economic community projects like repair and maintenance of farm-to-market roads, bridges; and agro-forestry community projects such as tree planting and reforestation. The scope of work shall depend on the proposal that was prepared and approved.
