Sabangan gets P237-K for emergency employment

SABANGAN,
Mountain Province -- The Office of the Congressman through the Dept. of Labor
and Employment turned over P237,000 last week for the emergency employment
program or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers
(TUPAD).
TUPAD is a community based assistance that aims to provide
emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers
for a minimum period of 10 days but not exceeding a minimum of 30 days
depending on the nature of work to be performed.
The ceremonial turnover was attended by lawyer Maximo Dalog
Jr. who represented Mountain Province Legislative Caretaker Allen Jesse
Mangaoang.
Dalog handed the check to Sabangan sanggunian bayan Members
led by Vice Mayor Dario Esden witnessed by employees and staff during Monday’s
flag raising ceremony.
Dalog cited partnership between the office of the
congressman and Dept. of Labor and Employment saying their office will continue
to support and sponsor house measures that will favor the labor and employment
sectors in Mountain Province.
Dalog also thanked Sabangan government officials as
accredited co-partner (ACP) and Public Employment Service officer Gabriel
Moguet including Labor Employment Office II Mylene Palaleo of DOLE provincial
office for being instrumental in realization of the emergency employment
program for the municipality of Sabangan.
Moguet
said for this year, TUPAD beneficiaries for the municipality of Sabangan
increased in number with 64 from
barangays of Camatagan, Supang, Losad and Poblacion.
He said the emergency employment program for the
municipality had been implemented since 2014 because of the constant support
from the concerned offices.
Sabangan is second to the municipality of Bauko to
implement such emergency employment program.
Beneficiaries
of the program will be working on social community projects such as repair and
maintenance of common public facilities such as schools and health centers;
economic community projects like repair and maintenance of farm-to-market
roads, bridges; and agro-forestry community projects such as tree planting and
reforestation. The scope of work shall depend on the proposal that was prepared
and approved.
