34 ‘cracker injuries in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN,
Pangasinan — The Provincial Health Office recorded 34 cases of firecracker
injuries mostly active type of involvement from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1, 2019.
Dr. Anna De Guzman,
provincial health officer, said active cases were 26 and passive 8.
Firecracker
used were kwitis 7, Boga 4, Bawang 4, Triangle 3,mixed pulbura 3, plapla 2,
piccolo 2, luces 2, baby rocket 2, Five-star 2, whistle.bomb 1, fountain1,and
unknown 1.
Most of the victims were
from 5 to -9 years old , 8 and 15-19 with 9 victims, 20-24, 4 victims, oldest
was 70 to 75 years old..
Most of the affected
parts were hand 24 cases, knee leg 1 case, chest 2 cases, face 3 cases and eye
injury 4 cases, said De Guzman.
She said only one–eye
surgery was admitted in Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.
All blasting and burns,
no amputations, she added.
Compared to the period
Dec 21, 2017 to Jan. 1 2018 which has 41 cases ;
Dec. 21, 2018 -Jan 1,
2019 has 34 cases.
There was a decrease of
17 percent in injuries this year..
