Registration for free tech-voc training on

CITY – The Loakan-based Regional
Training Center of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) in the Cordillera announced that registration for free
technical-vocational education and training (TVET) is on not only in the said
center but also in provincial training centers of the region.
Jaime Calatan of the
TESDA-Cordillera’s Regional Training Center said this was pursuant to the
government’s free education program, especially for individuals who want to
avail of skills for employment. He said interested
applicants must be at least 18 years old, high school graduate and must bring
with them 2 pieces passport size ID picture with white background and shirt or
blouse with collar; photo copy of birth certificate, photo copy of medical
certificate that enrollee is fit for training, photocopy of high school
credentials such as diploma or form 137 and photocopy of chest x-ray result for
wielding course enrollees.
Calatan said courses
covered by the free TVET program include automotive servicing, CNC milling
machine operation, electrical installation and maintenance and wielding all
covering National Certifications (NC) 1, 2, 4 and 4.
Calatan
said schedule of the free TVET will be based on number of registrations
considering they are mandated to complete minimum of 15 and maximum of 25
registrants per competency for them to proceed with the training of the
completed batches.
“The Regional Training
Center and our existing provincial training centers are ready to accommodate
the interested registrants wanting to avail of the free technical-vocational
education and training program of the government for them to be able to acquire
skills that they could use to earn decent income to sustain the living
condition of their families,” he said.
He called on interested
individuals wanting to avail of the free TVET program to immediately visit the
nearest training center in their place and submit their credentials considering
trainings will be on first come, first serve basis.
According to him,
implementation of the free TVET program is part of the government’s initiative
to provide qualified individuals with the skills that they could use to improve
their lives and that of their families.
Calatan said after
completion of trainings, training centers will recommend to companies trainees
for on-the-job training (OJT) for employment.
