Texas meds serve 800 in Kalinga medical mission

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga
-- More than 800 individuals received medical services during a
medical outreach carried out by the Houston (USA) Alliance of Volunteers in
Medicine (HAVMed), BIBAK Texas, and the Ugnayan ng Pahingod UP-PGH at the
Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH), this city.
From Feb. 4-8, some 92 patients were operated on by the team.
Reports
obtained from KPH show there were 59 major surgeries and 34 minor surgeries
done.
Seventeen persons were
operated on for thyroidectomy, seven for herniorrhaphy, three on varicose vein
stripping and one hand deformity (syndactyly).
Others were
treated for lumps and bumps at the operating room and out-patient department.
The report also
indicated 750 reading glasses were distributed free to qualified recipients.
One box of babies and children clothes, packed goodies containing noodles, biscuits, tooth brushes, and milo-juice, and teddy bears were given to patients at the Pediatric wards and nursery.

The team
also donated after the mission a cardiac monitor,
one borie machine, five pulse oximeters, operating room
instruments, assorted OR supplies, a laryngoscope, an
ambubag, 10 OR gowns, anesthetics (isoflurane and Sevoflurane), and
assorted medicines.
