Former PDEA agent nabbed for grave threat

BAGUIO CITY – A former agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was arrested here Monday for grave threat after his stepson reported the incident at police station 10.
A police report said the incident happened around 9 p.m. at No. 81 Cuanso Road, Sto. Niño Bengao, Bakakeng Central on complaint of Aaron James Castañeda Venturina, 19 against his stepfather identified as Samuel Lopez Mora, 58, both residents at said House.
Investigation disclosed the complainant was at the third floor of the house when he heard the voice of his angry stepfather who was looking for him and his firearm.
The complainant hid at the attic. When his stepfather left the house, the complainant left and reported the incident to police who arrested the suspect.  The statement of the victim was case was corroborated by his half-brother.
The suspect was incarcerated at the city jail on order of Prosecutor Awisan.

Manhunt launched to nab stabbing suspect

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police have started a manhunt to arrest a certain Jay-R Sanoy who allegedly stabbed a student here inside a videoke bar near the vegetable trading post in Barangay Pico on Tuesday around 2:30 p.m.  
Police identified the victim as Lorenz Paul Feliciano Perez, 20, single. Investigation disclosed the victim and his friends were having a drinking session inside the bar when the suspect entered, went near the table of the victim and suddenly threw a shot glass on the floor.
The suspect attempted to punch the victim so the latter reacted and punched the face of the suspect. The victim left but decided to return to caution his friends but when he returned, his friends already left. The suspect with five companions chased and mauled him.
When the commotion stopped, the victim felt pain on his back and immediately reported the incident to town police station. He was brought to the Benguet General Hospital due to a stab wound on his back. Police went to crime site but suspects already left.

Kid killed in Tuba as truck backs off

TUBA, Benguet – A boy was killed when an Elf truck backed off and accidentally hit him Tuesday around 3:40 p.m. here at Camp 3.
The vehicle was driven by Roger Dominguez, of Antamok Norte, Camp 3.
Investigation showed the driver tried to move back the vehicle to park but did not notice the kids who were trying to hitch a ride at the back of the vehicle.
As a result, one male minor, a resident of Camp 3, Tuba Benguet, was hit by the rear wheel of the truck. The victim was immediately rushed to Baguio General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police did not disclose the name of the victim.

Baguio City hall workers robbed of cell phones

BAGUIO CITY – Police are investigating if it was an inside job or the act of outsiders who stole personal belongings including cell phones of city hall employees worth thousands of pesos while they were at the quadrangle for their Monday flag-raising ceremony last week.
A police report said the theft happened around 8:30 a.m. inside the Human Resource Office.
Complainants were Ernesto Bayo Baniaga,  Zenaida Nisperos Ordinario, Maryjo Manuel Parnacio, Bia Santiago Beho, and Sabado Bagtoen Ugalde.
Investigation disclosed victims left their belongings inside their office to attend said ceremony.
Ugalde who was the last to go out from the office locked the sliding door. After the flag raising ceremony, the victims went back at their office and noticed that the hasp of the sliding door was destroyed.
When they checked their bags, they discovered their belongings were missing.
Missing were Baniaga’s Blue Samsung A50 cell phone placed inside his drawer valued at P17,000. Ordinario’s  Black Samsung J4 cell phone placed inside her cabinet valued at P11,000 and Parnacio’s  wallet containing various cards, payroll (Veterans) and government IDs.
Also missing were Beho’s Gold Samsung cell phone placed inside her drawer valued at P12,000 and Ugalde’s Samsung cell phone inside his bag worth P6,000.
Police were still checking footage of a CCTV camera installed at the hallway at press time. The Baguio City Hall is manned by guards of Interlink Security Agency.


Man cornered for illegal ammunition

BAGUIO CITY -- A certain Rolly Aliten was arrested here Tuesday for illegal possession of ammunition. This, after Judge Maria Ligaya V. Itliong-Rivera of RTC, Branch 5, Baguio City issued warrant against Aliten to search his home at no. 505 Sudaypan St. Upper Rock Quarry.
Confiscated from the suspect were two ammunition for M203, two, two for Cal.45, four Cal .38 and five for Cal 22 guns.

 Sablan bocap surrenders gun

SABLAN, Benguet – Banangan barangay captain Rudy C. Walang surrendered to police here Tuesday a Cal. 38 handgun given to him by a concerned citizen who found the gun while he was digging his garden.
Walang told police the resident who requested anonymity went to his residence at Lexber Homes around 6:30 a.m. and gave him the gun. The gun was taken by police.

PDEA conducts surprisedrug test in Baguio jail

BAGUIO CITY -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Cordillera carried out a surprise drug test on personnel of Baguio's Bureau of Jail Management and Penology's female dorm on Monday.
Urine samples were submitted by all personnel of said office which were examined to determine whether they are using illegal drugs.
According to Weyler Awingan, Jail Officer 2 of the BJMP, activities like this ensure jail workers are following rules and regulations of the office and the law.
Awingan said he was confident that 100 percent of the personnel will turn out negative for drugs. He said someone who would test positive will automatically be removed from office and will be meted punishment and penalty.
The PDEA will reportedly conduct surprise drug tests in other jails and offices. -- Joyce Rhen de Guzman

 Man arrested in Sabangan for rape

SABANGAN, Mountain Province – A man was arrested here  Monday for allegedly raping a woman around 1 to 2 a.m. at Barangay Lagan.
The suspect named as Jonathan “Pal-og” Buslutan Jr., 30, single, was incarcerated at the local jail while charges were prepared against him in court.
The victim was a 41-year-old married woman who complained against the suspect.

Man arrested for ‘raping’ woman with mental illness

BAGUIO CITY – A man was arrested here Monday for allegedly inserting his hand in the private parts of a woman suffering from mental illness.  
A police report said the incident happened around 11 a.m.
at Melvin Jones Grandstand along Harrison Road. The suspect was identified as Deogracio Cruz Viray.
Investigation disclosed police Sgt. Ngan-oy Diwas, was inside his parked vehicle when he saw the suspect approach the victim, sat beside her and did the act. The suspect was arrested and brought to police station where charges for rape were prepared against him.

 Man stabbed in Kabugao after drinking spree

KABUGAO, Apayao – A man was arrested here Monday for frustrated homicide which transpired around 12 noon at Sta. Pukao, Poblacion.
The victim was identified as Grey Paul Bangcayang, 27, married, laborer, while the suspect was named as Freddie Basang Littawa, 34, married.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim and the suspect together with Randy Pellobello had a drinking session at JPU’s Panciteria.
Accordingly, when they consumed their order, they proceeded to Sta. Pukao but when they reached the store of Fernando Miting, a heated argument arose between the victim and the suspect.  Littawa reportedly brought out a knife and stabbed the back of the victim.
Pellobello pacified them and the victim informed him that he was stabbed from his back. The victim was immediately brought to Apayao District Hospital and transferred to Cagayan Valley Medical Center at Tuguegarao City for treatment.
 The suspect was arrested at Sitio Balinawang, Poblacion, by police where the weapon used was recovered from him -- an 8.5 cm kitchen knife.

Grenade explodes inside Bangued lumber firm

BANGUED, Abra – Police are still trying to determine who  exploded a grenade here around 11 p.m. on April 28 inside the compound of  Newco Lumber and Hardware here at Partelo Street, Zone 2.
Investigation disclosed while the owner of the establishment named as Melinda Dy Kho, 55, married, businesswoman, and her daughter Nyssa were watching television, they heard an explosion emanating from their compound around 7:30 p.m. but they ignored it.
The following morning, their security guard identified as Robert Seleng Allen noticed a torn red plastic container suspected to have been used in the explosion.
Police found the safety lever behind the concrete fence and shrapnel from a fragmentation grenade scattered inside the compound.
No damaged property was reported and nobody was hurt during the explosion.

 3 men nabbed for illegal guns, bullets

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Three men were arrested early last week in the region for illegal guns and ammunition.
Police arrested a certain Cosme D. Aguihao, 29, at his residence in Barangay Cuta, Lagawe on Monday. Confiscated from the suspect was a Magnum .357 loaded with seven bullets.
In Baguio City, a certain Edwin G. Ramirez, 26, of Barangay Balacbac  was nabbed April 28 for same offense  while Victor Tiwang Macaiba, 48, of Romualdez, Rizal, Kalinga was also arrested a day earlier in the town for illegal guns.
Ramirez and Macaiba were arrested in their respective residences by virtue of warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Judge Ethelwolda A. Jaravata of RTC, Branch 32, Agoo, La Union recommended bail of P80,000 for Ramirez while Judge Jerson E. Angog of RTC Branch 25, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga set P120,000 bail bond for Macaiba.

 P3.7-M marijuana destroyed in Kibungan 

KIBUNGAN, Benguet --More than 3.7 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed here by lawmen early last week.
The illegal plants were burned on site by operatives of Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Benguet Drug Enforcement Unit and members of PDEA-CAR in the hilly area of Proper Tacadang during the 2-day eradication drive on April 27-28.
Said plants were discovered in five plantation sites planted with 815 fully grown marijuana plants, while 30 kilos of dried marijuana were found.
The operation was initiated by Kibungan police.

 Man arrested for shabu in La Trinidad

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested here April 26 at Barangay Cruz a certain Mark “Major”Kuan Morales, 30, unemployed, resident of Marcos Highway, Baguio City for illegal drugs.
Allegedly confiscated from him were two (2) sachets of suspected shabu; P1,000 and Cherry mobile phone.

Man cornered in Bangued for shabu

BANGUED, Abra – A certain Germalon Tauro Potolin, 30, was arrested her April 26 in Barangay Sta Rosa, Bangued for illegal drugs.
Allegedly seized from him were five sachets of suspected shabu, and P15,000 by police and narcotics agents.
