BAGUIO CITY-- The Baguio
City school of Arts and Trades as the only Technical Education Skills
Development Authority- administered school in the region, still has 650 slots
for certificate programs that can be availed of until December this year.
"We are encouraging
everyone, especially the undergraduate students to please take advantage of the
free skills training in BCSAT," said Arlene Cadalig, BCSAT school
administrator on Tuesday. “This is the government’s thrust to help ease
financial burden of parents in sending their children to school.”
She said BCSAT is now
offering seven qualifications under the free technical vocational education and
training (TVET) programs of TESDA: Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Barista
NC II, Bartending NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II,
Cookery NC II, and Commercial Cooking NC III.
Cadalig said each TVET
program has corresponding hours of training prior to undergoing the national
certification.
She said that from October
2018 to April 2019, 275 scholars availed of the different courses at BCSAT.
She also added that
enrollees must be at least 18 years old and at least a high school graduate to
avail of the scholarship.
Applicants are required
to bring form 138-A for high school graduate, certificate of good moral
character, one passport-size identification picture, and undergraduate
credentials for easier facilitation of their registration.
The school administrator
disclosed that graduates of technical vocational courses augment workforce
especially in tourism industry, thus providing employment opportunity to the
TVET graduates. – Pamela Mariz Geminiano
