CAUAYAN
CITY, Isabela -- At least 28 passengers of a truck were injured in an accident
here in Sitio Buduan, San Pablo near Buduan Bridge afternoon of June 2.
Lt. Col. Nelson Vallejo, chief of police of Cauayan
City Police said a truck driven by German Tagata and owned by Esmena Agbayani,
figured in the mishap that occurred at around 2 p.m. on an undeveloped barangay
road.
Severely injured were Tina Joy Tejada , 14; Joy Masi
, 35; Aquilina Pelerio, 80; Norberto Callangan, 58; Wilma Callangan Calzada,
60; and Ella Soriano.
The 22 others who were hurt suffered only slight physical
injuries.
They were all residents of Barangay Linglingay, Cauayan
City, Isabela.
Probers said the truck was negotiating the barangay road
heading towards south Barangay Linglingay and was going up a steep curve when
the driver suddenly lost control because of faulty brakes.
Since it was also overloaded, the truck was too heavy to
compensate for the surge backward before it finally crashed on to its side.
Victims sustained injuries on the different parts of their
bodies and rushed by Rescue 922 teams to different hospitals in Cauayan City.
Tagata is now being held by the Cauayan City police and is
facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries.
