Chess tutor nabbed for sex abuse of student

BAGUIO CITY -- A chess trainer was arrested for sexually abusing his 10-year-old female minor student here afternoon of June 2. 

Police operatives identified him as Ramsey Laureto Tiwaken, 33, a resident of Ambassador Tublay, Benguet.

Two witnesses reported to police while they were on board a La Trinidad passenger jeep bound to Baguio City, they noticed that the man sitting in front of them was caressing the private part of a minor seated beside him.

They took a video of the incident. Later while they were at Burnham Park, they saw the two again, with the suspect doing same lewd act against the minor which prompted them to take photos then reported the incident to authorities.

Tiwaken is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 7610, otherwise known as the Child Abuse Law.

Following this, regional police director Brig Gen. Israel T. Dickson thanked the concerned citizens who reported the incident to the police.

Dickson urged parents to be cautious in employing unscrupulous mentors and asked the public to immediately report anything which pose threat to peace and order.
