Kalinga prepares to host Cordi Month celebration

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga -- This province is preparing to host the 2019 Cordillera Month celebration next month with the theme “CAR @32: Building One Greater Cordillera.”
In a recent meeting, the different working committees have finalized their plans for a memorable and successful observance.
The celebration will start with a Gong-relay around the provinces and cities of the Cordillera Administrative Region which will kick-off on July 8 at the Capitol grounds here. It will   proceed to Apayao then Abra, Baguio City, Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao and back to Tabuk City on the July 14 for the culminating program on July 15.
           The July 15 program will be highlighted by a parade and ceremonial tree planting at Capitol grounds, program at the Kalinga Sports Center, audio visual presentations on the region’s infrastructure gains,  and  Kalinga’s potentials and legacies, the State of the Region Address, and ceremonial beating of the gong.
The province is gearing up for a warm welcome of delegates from all over the Cordillera on July 14 with a fellowship night.
It is expected to be colorful with the tapestry show to be participated by fashion models and beauties from around Cordillera.
The laga run-way will also be a promotional venture for the weaving industry of the locals.
Visitors would also be entertained by Pasil’s Pakidum, a cultural carousel on Kalinga’s dance and music, and be offered the best of Kalinga’s hospitality with “Slow Food” menus of native and organic dishes for dinner.
There would also be short show about the “Mt. Spirit” filmed in Kalinga.
         An agro-industrial fair at Capitol grounds will display weaving products and souvenir items, and overflowing coffee brewed from Kalinga finest for all to sip.
          Some of the activities to be done within the July Cordillera month celebration are  the tree planting to be participated by Sangguniang Kabataan officers of Tabuk City aimed to instil in the minds of the youth the importance of sustaining the region as water cradle of North Luzon and  land patent distribution both sponsored by DENR.
The Infrastructure Committee of the Regional Development Council  is co-hosting  the Cordi Month activities.
The Cordillera Administrative Region was created on July 15, 1987 thru Executive Order 220 signed by then President Corazon C.  Aquino. 
Now on its 32nd year since its creation, the quest for the elusive Cordillera autonomous government remains a primary goal of the RDC. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
