P63.4-M marijuana destroyed in Cordi

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Another P63.4-million worth of marijuana plants was destroyed in weeklong simultaneous anti–criminality law enforcement operations from June 24 to 30, the Police Regional Office Cordillera reported.
Brig. Gen. Ephraim Dickson, regional police director, said at regional police headquarters here at Camp Dangwa the massive marijuana eradication campaign was jointly implemented by police provincial offices of Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province and members of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council members of concerned municipalities.
In Benguet, a total of P11,223,800 assorted marijuana plants composed of 8,300 fully grown plants, 120 kgs marijuana stalks, one kilo dried leaves, 100 pieces of marijuana sticks, and 1,000 marijuana seedlings were burned onsite during the implementation of Oplan “Bushwacker 2” in seven different plantation sites in Barangay Tacadang and Barangay Palina, both in Kibungan, Benguet, Makmakyes/Las-igan, Cabitin, Mankayan, Benguet and Macagang, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet.
In Kalinga, a total of P49.6 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were also eradicated in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 28.
The 240,500 fully grown marijuana plants were discovered in nine plantation sites with a total land area of 14,200 square meters.
In Mountain Province, P2.6 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned at the boundaries of Sadanga, Mt Province and Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 28.
Dickson said various OPLANs were crafted to clear all drug-affected barangays in Benguet, Kalinga and Mt. Province.

 Stall owner chases, catches thief in LT

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A man was caught Wednesday by a stall owner he victimized at Stall 1, Mega Surplus here along km 4.  Balili around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Clinton Parayao Caya-os, 26, single, while the arrested suspect was Nilo Duyugan Wapan a.k.a. Jhaylo, 19, laborer, native of Tondo, Manila and residing here at 074, Banig, Tawang.
According to the victim, the suspect together with his companion identified as Balong went to the stall of the victim. The companion tried to fit some goods which were displayed and he was assisted by the victim while the suspect took two belt bags worth P250 each.
The suspect immediately went outside the stall after taking the items but was chased and apprehended by the victim in front of Tops Barber Shop, along km 4 Balili.

 Man manhandled, robbed of belongings

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A man was manhandled and robbed of his belongings by a still unidentified man here around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday at Palmaville, Puguis.
The complainant was identified as Randolp Cadnona Aniban, 24, of Atok, Benguet and resident of Ampasit, Puguis.
According to the victim, he was walking going home but the thief followed him and boxed his nape. The suspect pushed the victim that caused him to fall. The suspect pointed a knife to the neck of the victim and kicked his ribs many times.
The suspect took a sling bag which contained Jag T-shirt worth
P 1,300, wallet which contained driver’s license, Metro Bank ATM, P400 cash and Nokia cellphone.

Dice game turns deadly in wake; man shot 

PIDIGAN, Abra – A dice game turned deadly at a wake here when a farmer was shot by a co-player around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday at Barangay Pangtud.
The victim was identified as John Apolinar Alcos, 41of Barangay Sulbec while the suspect was identified as Ramil Bringas, of Poblacion West.
Investigation disclosed both attended the wake of a certain Virginia Bargas. While playing dice (dado), a misunderstanding ensued between them which irked the suspect who drew a Cal. 45 pistol tucked on his waist and shot the victim but prior to the shooting, the victim saw the suspect pointing a gun towards him so he was able to run away.
The suspect fled to unknown direction after the incident. Police found a spent bullet and another bullet for Cal. 45.  


Man wanted in Hingyon for attempted homicide nabbed

BAGUIO CITY – A man wanted for attempted homicide in Hingyon, Ifugao was arrested here Wednesday by Baguio and Hingyon cops. Nabbed was Octavio Pumihic Bulahao after Judge Rose Mary R. Molina of RTC Branch 7, Baguio City issued warrant for his arrest with no bail.

 Woman nabbed for bouncing checks

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – An unemployed married woman was arrested here atr Buyagan, Poblacion for violation of bouncing checks law. Cops nabbed Noria Talig-an Pagadut, 39, after warrant was issued against her by Judge Maria Clarita Casuga-Tabin of MTCC Branch 4, Baguio City for five violations of said law.

Woman denied bail for syndicated estafa

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested a certain Marnelly P. Vicente inside the Justice Hall here Wednesday for syndicated estafa. Judge Maria Ligaya V. Itliong of RTC Branch 5, Baguio City who issued warrant against her denied bail against the suspect.

Man wanted for frustrated murder tracked in Boliney 

BOLINEY, Abra -- Detectives of CIDG Benguet tracked down a man wanted for frustrated murder and arrested him June 30 here in Barangay Baoyan.
 Nabbed was Dapolay P. Pait, 56 was nabbed after nine years of hiding after warrant was issued against him by Judge Quirino M Andaya, RTC, Branch 26, 2JR, Luna, Apayao dated Dec. 15, 2011. 
The CIDG detectives have been tracking Pait since 2011 but he had been elusive. The break came last June 30 when an informant reported that he was sighted at his residence in Baoyan. The team, in coordination with local police immediately arrested him.

 Wanted man in Burgos, La Union nabbed in N. Vizcaya   

CASTANEDA, Nueva Vizcaya – The most wanted person of Burgos, La Union fell on the hands of CIDG Abra detectives here June 28 in Barangay Balitogon here after almost six years of evading officers of the law. Medrano Capia-ao y Bugnay, 55, was arrested after warrant was issued against him by Judge Marry R Molina-Alim of RTC, Branch 33, FJR, Bauang, La Union dated July 22, 2013 for homicide.              

Two armed men held for threatening victim

KIANGAN, Ifugao -- Two persons were arrested at Udan's Videoke Bar here in Barangay Tuplac night of June 24 after threatening a victim who immediately reported the incident to the police that led to their arrest.
 Suspects were identified as Marvin Dum-an and Charles Bastor, both of Panubtuban, Asipulo town.
Confiscated from Dum-an was a Cal.38 while tactical knife was taken from Bastor.

Man, son-in-law nabbed for guns, bullets in Abra

BANGUED, Abra -- Three persons were locked up in jail after police arrested them in their respective houses.
Suspect Rolando B. Bersamina, 50, of Alimbubuok, Sao-atan, was apprehended June 25 after the police confiscated a Cal. 45 handgun, magazine and seven bullets for Cal. 45.  
His son-in-law named Sherwin Dometita who was also present during the operation was arrested after 13 bullets for Cal.22 were confiscated from him.

 Flora farmer nabbed for shotgun, bullets

FLORA, Apayao – A certain Eliseo Daguao Carlos Jr., 38, farmer and a resident here of San Jose, Malayugan was apprehended June 25 after police confiscated from him a shotgun and bullet for the gun.

 Man cornered in  Ifugao for violence 

HUNGDUAN, Ifugao – A man wanted in Pinukpuk, Kalinga for violation of Republic Act 9262, also known as Anti-Violence against women and their Children Act of 2004 was nabbed here June 26.
The suspect was named as Saturnino Dangiwan Alcaide, 26, farmer and native of Barangay Magaogao, Pinukpuk Kalinga.
Alcaide was intercepted at Sitio Balentimol, Abatan, Hungduan June 26. Bail of P60,000 was set by Judge Marcelino K. Wacas of RTC, Branch 25, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga for his temporary liberty.

 Jueteng bet collectors arrested in Sablan

SABLAN, Benguet – Two jueteng bet collectors were nabbed here while collecting bets at Lower Palali afternoon of June 26.  They were identified as Roger Algayn Florida Jr, 21, college student and Marie Lolina Casamis, 40, both residents of Lower, Palali, Poblacion.Confiscated from them were were cash money of P1,200 ballpen and one bundle of receipts used for betting.

Two farmers nabbed for transporting illegal logs

CONNER, Apayao – Two farmers identified as Lando Liwes Cadap, 29, driver, and Chris Ole Bia, 35, helper, both residents here of Kalyat, Lennengm Kabugao town were apprehended along the national road here at Sitio Mabubwa, Barangay Calafug June 29 for transporting 40 pieces of Tangili lumber.  Both were riding a white Foton van with plate no. WGQ257 loaded with Tangili lumber when they were flagged down. They were nabbed for failure to produce papers for the logs.

Cops find lumber in Besao

BESAO, Mountain Province -- Ten pieces of assorted pine lumber were recovered here at Ipit Takba Lacmaan evening of June 26. Local folks denied ownership of the lumber.

 Fashion designer nabbed for estafa

BAGUIO CITY – A fashion designer was arrested here Tuesday along Abanao Road for estafa. Nabbed was Gale G. Peckley, 28, of Bayan Part, Aurora Hill. This, after warrant was issued against her by Judge Michael V. Francisco of RTC Branch 6, Baguio City. The judge set bail of ₱20,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

Woman nabbed in La Trinidad for estafa

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A native of Pozurrobio, Pangasinan was arrested here Tuesday along km 4, Pico for estafa.
The suspect was identified as Raquel B. David, 30 and at present residing at No.14 Purok 22, San Carlos Heights, Baguio City.
Judge Emmanuel Cacho Rasing of RTC, First Judicial Region Branch 3, Baguio City earlier issued warrant against her setting bail of ₱60,000 for her temporary liberty.

Man nabbed for stealing motorcycle

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A man was apprehended here June 26 for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
Joepaul C. Paguinto was arrested for failing to present proof of ownership of motorcycle he was driving.

Three men nabbed for trespassing in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – Three persons were arrested here recently for trespass to dwellings. Nabbed at Solibao Restaurant, Lake Drive, Burnham Park was Andres D. Ongyaon by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Glenda T. Ortiz-Soriano, Judge of MTCC, Branch 2, Baguio City.
Also nabbed for the same offense same day was Gerald B. Yuhmo after warrant was issued against her by Judge Ortiz-Soriano.
Arrested for the same offense along Military Cut-off was
Eduardo Y.  Dunag after Judge Soriano also issued warrant against him. All were granted bail of P3,000 each for their temporary liberty.

 Man lands in jail for theft

HINGYON, Ifugao – Police arrested here June 26 a certain Jemax K. Ligwatan after warrant was issued against him by Pascual D. Kimayong Jr., Judge of MCTC, Lagawe, Ifugao for theft with a bail of P36, 000.
