DPWH completes 16-km rehab on vital Isabela road

SAN PABLO. Isabela – The year-long rehabilitation work on the 16.7-km intermittent sections of Daang Maharlika in Isabela was recently completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways announced.

The rehabilitated sections start from the municipality of Cabagan going to San Pablo, Isabela.

According to Undersecretary Emil Sadain, the covered stretch of Daang Maharlika is among the busiest thoroughfares in Isabela as it serves as the main access of motorists going to and from Tuguegarao City and further up north.

“A year of road rehabilitation has covered Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP) reblocking of Daang Maharlika’s intermittent sections that needed an urgent repair,” Sadain said.

The road rehabilitation was carried out from March 2018 until March 2019, data from the department showed.

A 280-millimeter thick PCCP reblocking, including shoulder reformation with reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings component was implemented at the intermittent section, the undersecretary said.

The road reblocking and repair project of the main road in Isabela is part of the Road Upgrading and Preservation Projects funded by a loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency.
