RIZAL, Kalinga -- The
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released P3.2 million financial
aid under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)
for the emergency employment of typhoon-affected.
DOLE-Kalinga
Head Avelina Manganip handed the check to Rizal local officials in
simple ceremony here recently. This will benefit around
1000 victims of Typhoons Ompong and Rosita in this town last year.
Under the TUPAD, beneficiaries
get 10-30 day emergency work but the maximum days approved for Rizal is 10 days
to accommodate more families, Manganip explained.
The rate per day follows the
prevailing minimum daily wage in the area of P320/day plus personal accident
insurance.
Manganip said DOLE has approved
the cash aid to recipient-municipalities based on program proposals and extent
of typhoon damage earlier submitted.
Other municipalities of Kalinga
that had complied with the requirements will get the same assistance, she said.
