Bontoc CARAA champs get cash prizes from LGU

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Secondary and
elementary athletes who are instrumental in maintaining the municipality’s
standing as the over-all champion in the 2019 Provincial Athletic Meet recently
received their cash incentives from the Bontoc Municipal Government.
For Individual Sports/ Events, athletes who landed
as the champion (gold medalist) received P1, 000 while the 2nd place (silver
medalist) received P500. For Team Events, P3, 000 is given to a team who landed
as champion while P1, 000 to 2nd place.
In a separate interview, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey thanked the
athletes for giving honor to the municipality and encouraged them to continue
striving and realizing the benefits of sports activities.
The mayor assured the non-stop support of the Bontoc
Municipal Government to the athletes.
“Let us continue to give our athletes our full support morally,
mentally, financially and other support as sport is an avenue for their growth
and improvement of their physique and character,” Odsey added.
The provision of cash incentives to outstanding municipal athletes who
excel in their events during the conduct of the Provincial Athletic Meet is
mandated by Ordinance No. 251, authored by Sangguniang Bayan member Alsannyster
Patingan.
Odsey who is the mayor during the passage of the ordinance said that
this is also to encourage the home-grown athletes to train hard and to excel
more in their chosen event/s.
In the 2019 Provincial Athletic Meet, Bontoc hauled a total of 75 gold
medals, 47 silver medals, and 44 bronze medals besting all other delegations.
Also, Bontoc is adjudged as the Most Disciplined Delegation.
