BAGUIO CITY
-- The Professional Regulation Commission-Cordillera Administrative Region
filed criminal complaints against three fake professionals posing as a dentist,
a pharmacist and a civil engineer last week.
In 2019, the courts sentenced them to prison terms up to four years and two months
with fines for falsification of public documents and violation of
the professional regulatory laws.
PRC
regional director Juanita L. Domogen bared this saying the fake professionals
submitted documents to employers which were later found spurious when verified
by the Civil Service Commission through the PRC-CAR’s online verification of
eligibility system.
The
fake dentist was exposed in an inspection conducted by the Board of Dentistry.
“The public
is warned of fixers posing as PRC officials and employees extorting money in
exchange for fake documents,” Domogen said.
She added
these are individuals, whether or not officially involved in the operation of a
government office or agency, who have access to people working therein, and
whether or not in collusion with them, facilitate speedy completion of
transactions for gain, advantage or consideration.
“Employers
should verify first with PRC the documents submitted by applicants for
employment or promotion,”Domogen said.
The PRC
official said through resolution no. 2004-223, the viewing of test papers or
the filing of request for reconsideration of ratings after the result of the
examination has been released is disallowed.
“Only the PRC
issues valid professional identification cards, official Report of Ratings and
Certificates of Registration,” Domogen said.
The PRC did
not reveal the names of the fake professionals.
