Fallen pine tree cuts power in 50 Baguio, Benguet villages

BAGUIO CITY – Several villages in Baguio, parts of Itogon, Bokod, Tuba, and La Trinidad in Benguet, and Sison, Pangasinan experienced power outage after a pine tree fell on the mainline on Ambuklao Road here.
The power interruption started around 7:47 p.m. on Thursday affecting 35 villages in Baguio-Pacdal, Mines View Park, Gibraltar, Pucsusan, Lualhati Village, Outlook Drive, Lucnab, Parts of Country Club Village, Outlook Drive, South Drive, Parts of Cabinet Hill-Teachers Camp Barangay (near and along South Drive), Country Club Village (including Baguio Country Club, Camp John Hay except for Voice of America), Happy Hallow, DPS Compound, Greenwater Village, Military Cut-Off, Sta. Scholastica Village, Scout Barrio, Upper Dagsian, Lower Dagsian, Hillside, Gabriela Silang, Camp 7, Camp 8, Poliwes, San Vicente, Balsigan, Parts of Bakakeng Norte/Sur (Ciudad Grande, Eagle Crest, Montebello Village), Loakan Proper, Liwanag-Loakan (Lower Liwanag and areas tapped along Kennon Rd. Backbone Line), Loakan Proper, Atok Trail, Kias, PMA, and Loakan Apugan.
Villages in Itogon, Benguet --Tuding, Ucab, Gumatdang, Virac, Loacan, and parts of Poblacion IT (Maligaya)—were also affected by the power outage.
Power was also cut off in Bokod, Benguet, Barangay Ambuklao; five villages in Tuba town: Camp 4, Camp 3, Twin Peaks, Tabaan Sur, and Camp 1; and La Trinidad: Beckel (Lamut area), parts of Ambiong LT (near Lamut).
A small portion of Dungon in Sison, Pangasinan was also affected by the power interruption.
Based on the advisory of the Benguet Electric Cooperative, the sole electric power distributor for Baguio and Benguet, electricity in Ambuklao in Bokod was restored at 12:09 a.m. while power at Camp 1 and Camp 4 were restored around 3:45 a.m.
The firm said it hopes to restore power at the remaining areas by 11 a.m. Friday.
Baguio experienced a heavy downpour with gusty winds on Thursday afternoon due to Typhoon Ambo. (PNA)
