Baguio City residents
resilient in times of crises, they are honest.
This was revealed by
Coca Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. through its North Luzon Stills
Distribution Group-Baguio, after it remitted part of the proceeds from its
“honesty carts” for June 10 to July 10 to the city government.
The “honesty carts” were
put up in several areas last May.
The carts are left
unattended. Buyers could freely get Wilkins bottled water and leave payments
through a contraption.
Janeth Martin its
business developer revealed, P17,275 was collected by the company for its
second month of operation.
To her surprise, the
amount exceeded the total yield of P16,896 by P379.
For the previous month,
May 9 to June 10, the company likewise exceeded its benchmark by P334 after it
collected P2,090, instead of the expected yield of P1,756.
The company handed
P4,798 to the city as its share from the project’s second month of operations.
The carts is part of the
company’s nationwide “Wilkins on Wheels” project piloted in Baguio.
It is supported by the
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America Post 124 (Post 124)
headed by Commander Virgilio Gadiano.
Martin said, “Aside from
helping the poor, the project aims to promote honesty,” Martin explained.
In a related
development, she disclosed her company and Post 124 recently donated
720-gallons of Wilkins distilled water to the OB-Gyne wards of the Baguio
General Hospital and Medical Center and Benguet General Hospital.
