93 Covid cases in La Union; 3 recoveries

SAN FERNANDO
CITY – The province of La Union recorded one new Covid-19 case and three
recoveries on Aug. 2 as the number of cases reached 93 in the province.
La
Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III announced the new case of the
province was the seventh case of Aringay town.
He
said the patient was a 40-year-old female from Purok Sanyo 3 in Barangay San
Antonio, an overseas Filipino worker bound for Hongkong.
She
had travel history to Metro Manila to process her pre-departure requirements.
Her
medical examination revealed she was positive of the virus. She is now at the
municipality’s isolation facility.
Meanwhile,
the governor announced the recovery of three patients.
One
patient from Aringay was discharged from the isolation facility, another from
Bauang was discharged from Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San
Fernando City, while a patient from Bauang was done with home quarantine.
He said the
two new cases reported on July 1 from Barangay Panicsican in San Juan town were
taken off from the official tally of the province as they were reported in
Manila.
Contact
tracing is still being done to detect and isolate contacts of the said cases.
“The
sporadic resurgence of cases, not only in our province but in the whole nation
and the world, depicts how crucial this health crisis we are facing,” said
Ortega. “This challenge calls for our strengthened unity and cooperation.”
The
governor cited need to follow official community quarantine guidelines and
practice minimum health standards.
“While
we wait for the appropriate medical intervention to be available, we keep our
vigilance and discernment in place,” he said.
As
of July 2, La Union had a total of 93 cases, 36 of which were active cases, 49
recoveries, and eight deaths.
Seventeen
of the 20 local government units in the province have recorded COVID-19 cases
while the towns of Santol, Bagulin, and Burgos remain to be Coviud-19 free. --
