CITY OF TABUK,
Kalinga – Forty two micro enterprises in the province can now sell online after
attending the E-Commerce webinar given by the Dept. of Trade and
Industry.
DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, in his virtual message, said online marketing
is government’s initiative to help micro entrepreneurs market their products
under the new normal.
Lopez noted how the pandemic had knocked down the industry causing many
to shut-down since March.
Because of the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, Lopez said online
market boomed pushing the DTI to initiate means to connect the sector to
e-market platforms.
During the webinar, speakers from Lazada Philippines, Food Panda and
PayMaya participated through zoom.
Illuminada Calbuyao, owner of Kalinga Food Treat, said her business
practically stopped with the lockdown and she now sees market opportunity with
the e-market.
Like other participants, she said she will cope with effects of the
pandemic considering she has financial obligations.
DTI-Kalinga sirector Lino Cungihan said the activity was part of the
33rd July Cordillera Month celebration themed: “One resilient Cordillera: embracing
the new normal towards recovery.” -- PIA Kalinga
