DOLE, Rep Dalog give jobs to 857 Mt Province workers

Mountain Province - - The Office of
Congressman Maximo Dalog Jr., in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment - Cordillera gave jobs to Covid-affected informal sectors
in the province through the TUPAD BKBK or
Tulong Pangkabuhayan Para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantage workers, Barangay
Ko Bahay Ko Program.
DOLE provincial Officer Amaranth Abalos said
857 informal sector workers from the 10 municipalities of Mountain Province
benefitted from the program, 92 from
Bontoc and 85 each from the other nine towns.
The TUPAD program provides 10 – day work for
the beneficiaries who are paid P350 daily wage, Abalos
said.
This is the first batch of the TUPAD program
partnership with the Office of Congressman Dalog, she added.
Still under the TUPAD program,
Abalos said the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association or PHILRECA
is set to sponsor the wage for 10 – day work of 100 informal sector
workers from the province.
The TUPAD BKBK program of DOLE aims to
provide employment assistance to COVID displaced or work – affected informal
sector workers where beneficiaries are given a minimum of 10 – day work with a
daily wage based on the prevailing regional minimum daily. Work coverages
include community clean – up or disinfection/sanitation in the
barangay level.
Based on DOLE – CAR data as of
August 12, the TUPAD BKBK program already benefitted a total of 15,107 informal
sector workers from the six provinces of Cordillera and Baguio City, with a
total of around P1.16 million in wages paid. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
