DAGUPAN CITY – Suppliers of fish and other fish products from outside Pangasinan are still not be allowed to enter this city.
The city implemented the moratorium Sept. 28 to prevent Covid-19 cases.
This was the content of Executive Order No. 49 signed by Mayor Brian Lim on Sept. 22.
He warned that all fish and other fish products that will be delivered to Dagupan coming from outside Pangasinan will be confiscated during the moratorium.
This was also in compliance with the appeal of the Dagupan Fish Consignacion and Ice Dealers’ Association to the city government to ban entry of fish suppliers and other fish products from outside Pangasinan to prevent transmission of Covid-19 from outside the province.
Most of these fish suppliers are from Metro Manila and the provinces of Zambales, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Laguna.
Earlier, Lim implemented stricter guidelines to protect the people of Dagupan against Covid-19, especially in crowded areas of the city, such as the fish market.
During epidemiological testing of the City Health Office, it turned out most of the new cases of Covid-19 were vendors and workers at the Magsaysay Fish Market.
The city has more than 80 active Covid-19 cases, and it has continued to increase due to the city’s ongoing tests.
Lim earlier ordered closure of the Magsaysay Fish Market and other public markets of the city on the first and third    Thursdays of each month for disinfection.
All fish sellers, workers, and importers in the fish market were required to undergo rapid Covid-19 tests.
