Abra IPMRs declare CPP- NPA persona-non-grata

BANGUED,
Abra – The Council of Indigenous Peoples’ Mandatory Representatives (IPMR)
pushed the implementation of ancestral domains of the indigenous peoples
particularly in Tingguian municipalities as zones of peace.
In council resolution no. 3 series of 2020, IP leaders
declared the New Peoples’ Army (NPA), Communist Party of the Philippines-
National Democratic Front of the Philippines (CPP-NDFP) and
left-leaning groups that are considered threats as “persona-non-grata” in all
Tinggian ancestral domains of the province particularly in
the municipalities of Tubo, Malibcong, and Lacub .
Provincial IPMR Romero Daoaten led the municipal IPMRs in signing the resolution declaring the groups persona non-grata during the IP Day celebration in Oct. 21.

Daoaten lauded the IPMRs for their commitment in keeping
their areas zones of peace, in support to Executive Order No. 70 of President
Rodrigo Duterte “institutionalizing a whole-of-nation approach in ending local
communist armed-conflict (ELCAC) towards the attainment of sustainable and
inclusive peace.”
Daoaten also urged recruited IP youths to return to the
folds of the law.
There were 15 conflict-affected barangays in the province
as per report of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
The Provincial Task Force –ELCAC led by Abra Gov. Joy
Bernos was reportedly doubling its
efforts to bring services and projects in these barangays to keep the Abrenians
from from being recruited by leftist groups. – PIA Abra
