Ilocos town SK gears vs Covid- 19 fake news

BANGUI, Ilocos Norte -- The Sangguniang Kabataan of this town will start its Covid-19 vaccine awareness campaign this month to combat misinformation on Covid-19 like on vaccines circulating online and in the community.
    SK federation president John Philip Meneses told the Laging Handa Network Briefing misinformation causes fear and uncertainty to the public making them doubt the government’s public health efforts.
    This aims to provide the youth and other sectors in the community the reliable information they need regarding the COVID-19 vaccination program, he added.
    Meneses said the youth sector will maximize use of social media platforms for this.
    He added they shall hold a training on proper social media content creation first so platforms will be used effectively and reach a wider audience.
    For other sectors, especially older adults who are not social media savvy and residents who don’t have access online, Meneses said they will tap rural health units to accompany them in conducting house-to-house visits to hand-over printed materials and/or brochures  and provide and explain to them vital information regarding the vaccination program. -- PIA Ilocos Sur
