Three busted in Kalinga over P9.8-M marijuana

TABUK CITY – Three drug personalities were arrested while and P9.8 million worth of marijuana was seized and destroyed in separate operations in Kalinga on April 29. 
    Citing reports from Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Regional Intelligence Division, Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified suspects as Carlos Bocad Banosan, 27; Mylene Bullay Sola-og, 25; both residents of San Pedro, Rizal, Kalinga and Ninoy Dalacnas Addawe,30, of Tabuk, Kalinga. 
    Joint operatives from police regional investigation division, Quezon City and Kamuning police including PNP Drug Enforcement Group Southern Operations 1 arrested suspects Banosan and Sola-og after selling marijuana to a police buyer here in Barangay Bulanao. 
    According to police, Sola-og has been monitored selling illegal drugs and operating in some parts of Kalinga. 
    Confiscated from the suspects were 45 marijuana bricks; eight tubular form dried marijuana with a total estimated weight of 49 kilograms worth P5,880, 000.     
    In another buy-bust operation, Addawe was arrested by joint police operatives of Bulanao Norte after selling suspected shabu to a cop.
    Seized from the suspect were one shabu weighing more or less 0.5 grams worth P3,400.00, buy bust P3,000 bills, cell phone, and motorcycle. 
    All confiscated pieces of evidence were all documented and inventoried at site in the presence of witnesses.
    Arrested suspects are now under the custody of the respective operating units and facing charges for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A 9165). 
    Meanwhile, a marijuana eradication was conducted in barangay Loccong, Tinglayan. Kalinga where police uprooted 20,000 fully grown marijuana plants in two plantation sites.

A total worth of P4,000,000 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite with no arrested cultivator. 

3 shot dead by cops in Cabanatuan ‘gunfights’

CABANATUAN CITY —Three suspected peddlers of illegal drugs were shot dead in separate places in Cabanatuan City following anti-drug operations along Mampulog Road, Barangay Bantug Norte recently. 
    Police identified the suspects as Daniel Lorenzo Lopez, Jared Beronio Asuncion, and Jake Feliciano Elvambuena, all residents of the area.
    The group, police said, was responsible for the distribution of shabu and marijuana in Cabanatuan City and nearby towns in Nueva Ecija.
    Some P103,000 worth of shabu were seized from the suspects’ possession, police said. 

Policemen recovered a Cal.45 pistol, a Cal. 38 revolver, and a fragmentation hand grenade near the bodies of the slain drug personalities.

Investigators also recovered several spent shells from different caliber firearms at the scene.

Elvambuena has a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Maximo Ancheta of Gapan City Regional Trial Court.

“The suspects were placed under tight watch by the police after reports on alleged involvement in illegal drugs trade in the city,” the police report stated.

On Saturday, police received reports from the community on the presence of the suspects along Mampulog Road, prompting the local anti-narcotics unit to launch an operation against them. 

The suspects died as approaching cops exchanged gunfire with them.

15 nabbed; P7.5-M shabu seized 524 La Union villages drug-cleared; PDEA

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported a total of 14 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted in the province first quarter of 2021.
    Authorities arrested a total of 15 high-value targets during said operations.
    A kilogram of shabu amounting to P7,581,526  and 4.6 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P568,800 were confiscated.

The PDEA reported 524 barangays of La Union, out of its 576 villages, are now free from anti-illegal drugs.

 While there are still few remaining villages yet to be cleared of illegal drugs, agent Dean Pineda said during an interview over PIA's Tugtugan at Balitaan that PDEA works closely with local government units, government agencies and stakeholders to attain a totally drug-free community.

Strategies being implemented on this campaign are reportedly focused on the reduction of supply and demand, and prevention of harmful effects.

She added before declaring a village free from illegal drugs, PDEA ensures that there is no presence of drug-related activity or personality in the community. -- PIA, La Union

2 held in Abra for illegal drugs

BANGUED, Abra – Police arrested two men in buy-bust operations on April 29 in Penarubia and Bucay towns.
    Based on the reports of Abra Provincial Police Office to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee, suspects were identified as Cruzaldo Bigornia Afroilan, 45, Penarubia, local government employee and Kris Randel Barroga Molina, 19, student.

Afroilan was arrested at Sitio Gaco, Barangay Siblong, Bucay, after he reportedly sold shabu weighing 0.4 grams worth P2,000 to a cop.

Suspected shabu weighing six grams worth P40,000 was confiscated from him including Cal. 45 handgun, bullets, holster, cell phone, P2,000 and vehicle of the suspect, a  mini dump truck.

Molina was arrested at Barangay Sta. Rosa, Bangued, after selling suspected shabu weighing 0.2 grams worth 1,000.

Upon arrest, seized from his possession were shabu worth P6,800. shabu residue, P1,000, wallet, cellphone phone; BDO passbook and ATM card, P400 andcleather sling bag.

Police also seized his Honda XRM 125 motorcycle.

Confiscated pieces of evidence were all documented and inventoried in the presence of witnesses.

All arrested suspects are now under the custody and facing charges for illegal drugs.

 4 men nabbed for shabu in Benguet towns

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –Four drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Benguet May 5-6.
Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified suspects as Romy Alipeo Depdepen, 57; Victor Lara Bugawan, 50, Rey Barrozo Marquez, 32 and Norman Bacala Coyugan, 33.
    Police and Drug Enforcement agents arrested Depdepen here in Toyong, Pico, May 5 after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.48 grams worth P3,264.00 to a law enforcer.
    Other seized items from the suspect were 0.49 gram of suspected shabu worth P3,332, cellphone and boodle money.
   Coyugan was arrested by police at Mankingao,  Balili, Mankayan town.  Seized from him were suspected shabu weighing 0.17 grams, buy-bust money and cell phone.
    On May 6, police and PDEA agents arrested Bugawan in Betag, La Trinidad after he sold suspected shabu weighing 0.25 grams worth P1,700 to a lawman.

Confiscated from him were suspected shabu weighing 0.18 grams worth P1,224 and cell phone.

Marquez was nabbed after selling suspected shabu weighing 3.00 grams worth P20,400 to a cop at Upper Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet.

Confiscated from the suspect were, cell phone and Yamaha Mio motorcycle.

Further, all arrested suspects are now under the custody of respective offices.

Cases for illegal drugs were prepared against them.

4 slain in Nueva Ecija drug stings

SAN JOSE CITY -- Four drug suspects were killed in drug stings in Nueva Ecija last week.
Police said Dominic Yabut and Jesus Pelmoka engaged anti-narcotics agents in a shootout in Barangay Dalampang in Cabanatuan City.
    John Patrick Lozano and Christian de Jesus allegedly drew their guns when they sensed they had transacted with undercover agents in Barangay Caanawan in San Jose City.

Three Cal. 38 revolvers and a Cal. 45 pistol were among those allegedly recovered from the fatalities.

In Bulacan, Alexander de Naga yielded 500 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P3.4 million in a sting in Barangay Mojon in this city on Monday night, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon director Christian Frivaldo said.

P40.7-M ‘grass’ burned in Kalinga plantations

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- Over P 40 million worth of marijuana plants were burned in 4-day operations of Kalinga and Drug Enforcement agents May 6-9.
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee the illegal plants were found in three marijuana plantations at Mt. Chumanchill, Barangay Loccong in this remote town.
    Some 88,400 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P17,680,000 were reportedly found at the plantations.
    Lawmen also found 165 kilos of dried marijuana leaves amounting worth P19,800,000, 60 kilos marijuana seeds and 15 kilos of marijuana stalks valued at P3,300,000.
    The 4-day marijuana eradication drive, Lee said, led to destruction of P40,780,000 worth of marijuana.
