Tabuk officials: CPP persona non grata

TABUK CITY — Officials of this city declared the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) members persona non grata in Tabuk. Mayor Darwin  Estrañero and village officials, during the orientation of the “Situational awareness and knowledge management cluster” meeting of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict on June 4, denounced the armed struggle waged by communist groups.
    The orientation was organized by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Region 2.
    “We denounce the CPP-NPA-NDF, its officers, and members for their attempts to overthrow the government,” Estrañero said in a statement, following the issuance of executive order recently that declared CPP-NPA-NDF members unwelcome in Tabuk City.

    On March 19, 2018, the city council of Tabuk passed resolution 041-A series “denouncing the CPP-NPA-NDF for engaging in illegal/unlawful transactions/activities within the different barangays.”

    In a video message, the mayor also called on his constituents to be vigilant and monitor the youth who could be swayed by communist groups into joining the movement.

    “Let us continue to make Tabuk City a progressive and peaceful place,” he said.

    Kalinga Provincial Police Director Davy Vicente Limmong joined the official declaration against the CPP-NPA-NDF, saying Tabuk City and all seven towns in Kalinga condemn the communist groups.

    The town of Pasil, the last municipality that declared the CPP-NPA-NDF persona non grata in 2020, will reportedly also sue those who will support the insurgents. — PNA
