SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The provincial government of La Union and the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) have put up an advanced medical post (AMP) as part of the province’s action plan against the Delta variant of Covid-19.
In an interview, La Union provincial information officer Adamor Dagang said AMP is one of ITRMC's solutions to cater to the needs of patients, especially amid the threat of the Delta variant.
“It will be an extension of the hospital’s emergency room. While waiting to be admitted to the hospital, in case of a surge in Covid-19 cases, the patients will stay there instead of waiting in hallways or parking lots. It is safer as well,” he said.
Dagang said it will serve as a pre-hospital layer within the hospital's vicinity to guarantee a safer emergency room during surges, preventing possible infection transmission while providing urgent and emergent care to various and complex cases.
The AMP will also serve as a waiting area for patients needing tertiary care services pending confirmatory tests for Covid-19.
The provincial government, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), has set up four single container vans in front of ITRMC that will serve as AMP facilities. -- PNA
