10 rebs withdraw support to CPP

CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet -- Ten former supporters of the Communist Party of the
Philippines in Apayao, Benguet and Ifugao have withdrawn their support to the
communist groups and surrendered to cops from Jan. 23 to 30.
Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee said series of negotiations initiated by joint operatives of police, Army officers, barangay officials and their families resulted to this.
In Apayao, six former Militia ng Bayan under Kilusang Larangang Guerilla operating in Cagayan and Apayao voluntarily surrendered to the Apayao cops.
A 51 and 58-year-old couple from Sta. Marcela and four from Luna aged 58, 59, 48 and 53.
The latter two were females.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, three former Militia ng Bayan from KLG-North Abra also withdrew support to the CPP-NPA, a 58-year-old male, 54-year-old female from Abra and a 38-year-old male from Mountain Province.
In Ifugao, a 56-year-old former supporter of KLG- Ifugao also surrendered along with subversive documents, assorted clothes, and medical kits.
