BAGUIO CITY – A total of 28 public elementary and high schools here are set for limited face-to-face classes in transition to "new normal" education.
Mary Jane Malihod, Education program supervisor of City Schools Division said Thursday Gibraltar Elementary School and Sto. Tomas Elementary School started implementing in-person classes on March 7.
Twenty six schools composed of 19 elementary and seven high schools, she added, are still subject to compliance with School Safety Assessment Tool or SSAT for resumption of face-to-face classes from kindergarten to Grade 6.
Malihod said schools ready for the transition might start holding classes in the next several days after completion of the validation, simulation and orientation of the students who will be allowed to attend in-person classes.
According to her, these are students permitted by their parents to do so or who will sign a waiver while others will continue with blended learning.
Malihod said students will only be allowed to stay in the schools for a maximum of 4.5 hours.
She added there are designated areas in school premises where parents and guardians will be allowed to wait for the dismissal of their children from their classes for them to be able to bring them home immediately to prevent them from loitering in the schools.
Malihod said schools have been mandated to put up directional signs to serve as guide for students and teachers in going to and out of their classrooms and the school compound to ensure there will only be a single entrance and a single exit for orderly movement of people.
