BAGUIO CITY -- The Cordillera Regional Development Council endorsed fiscal year 2023 budget proposals from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and regional line agencies  during its first quarter meeting last March 9.
The budget proposals from SUCs and RLAs across the region went through a 4-day budget review and consultation last Feb. 21-24.
The activity was headed by the RDC-CAR budget coordinating committee chaired by Dept. of Budget and Management-CAR regional sirector Irene Gahid and co-chaired by National Economic and Development Authority-CAR regional sirector Susan Sumbeling.
The consultations were based on regional budget memorandum 001, series of 2022, issued Feb. 3, 2022 which provided criterion for the content of budget proposals.
Recommendations from the consultation to align programs, projects and activities of the SUCs and RLAs to the national and regional goals and strategies and to ensure the proposals’ consistency with the implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia ruling as provided by executive order 138 were provided.
Inclusion of programs and projects for the advancement of regional autonomy, streamlining of gender and development and other recommendations from the panel were integrated into the final budget proposals.
Budget proposals from the 6 SUCs and 23 RLAs totaled P109,364.84 for FY 2023 which is 37 percent higher than the approved FY 2022 budget allocation of P80,107.60 million for the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The consolidated budget proposals were approved by the RDC-CAR and endorsed to the respective central offices of RLAs and CHED for the SUCs.
NEDA-CAR serves as technical secretariat to the Cordillera RDC and its sectoral and support committees.
