7 nabbed, for robbing, shooting Kalinga rep’s campaign headquarters

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- The swift action of cops resulted in the arrest of fleeing suspects of a robbery incident at the campaign headquarters of Rep. Allen Jesse “Sonny” C. Mangaoang here.
    Reports reaching Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the arrested suspects as Ruben Bannas, Jil Binto, Valentin Valdez, Denmark Siag, Micahel Bista, Allan Jay Palicpic and Jeramil Pinated.
    Three other suspects are still at large and subject of manhunt operations were identified as Adso Bawas Bali-iwang, Dino Mangik, and Roy Mangik. 
    Police said on the evening of May 6, 10 suspects aboard two forward trucks and two motorcycles stopped in front of the campaign headquarters of Rep. Mangaoang. 
    The suspects suddenly fired gunshots into the air while the others drew their firearms and approached the staff of the congressman then took all folders and papers on the table including a shoulder bag of one of the victims. 
    The men immediately fled the scene prompting Rizal town police to alert nearby police stations to establish checkpoint operations on all possible escape routes. 
    A checkpoint operation here in Barangay Nambaran resulted in the interception of one of the trucks reportedly used by the suspects with seven individuals aboard. 
    Rizal police with some victims immediately went to the checkpoint in Nambaran where the victims positively identified one of the men aboard the said truck as Ruben Bannas.
    The shoulder bag containing the personal belongings of one of the victims was also recovered inside said truck. 
    The suspects are now facing charges of robbery with violence and intimidation against persons. 
    "Bagamat tayo ay natutuwa sa mabilis na aksyon ng mga kapulisan ng Kalinga pulis, aking pinapaalalahan ang lahat ng mga police chiefs sa Cordillera, Lee said in a statement.
