Three dead, 11 hurt in Baguio 3-vehicle crash

BAGUIO CITY – Three persons,
including a six-year old boy, died while 11 others were injured in a collision
involving three vehicles Friday morning, April 29 here at km 3, Asin Road,
Suello Village.
Police investigation bared a container van, a taxi and passenger van were in the same direction towards km 4 Asin road when the container van suddenly bumped the rear of a taxi which in turn bumped the rear of the passenger van.
The driver of the passenger van lost control of his vehicle and rammed a concrete wall on the side of the road.
The driver of the container van and his helper died on the spot while their companion was injured.
Investigators from the Baguio City Police Office withheld identity of fatalities and injured pending notification of their families.
The taxi driver was unhurt during the incident.
The other 10 injured from the passenger van and helper from the container van were brought to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for treatment.
Probers said the three motor vehicles involved in the accident were going towards same direction when the container van where the 2 fatalities were on board suddenly bumped the rear of the taxi.
Rescuers immediately rushed the victims to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but the 6-year old boy who was one of occupants of the passenger van died while undergoing treatment.
Local police has yet to issue a progress report on the said incident as of press time
Motorists said the area was dangerous and accident-prone, especially to motorists not familiar with its slopes.
The accident site is a steep climb towards Marcos Highway and a long drop to San Luis Village, they said.
