3 shabu pushers nabbed; P412-k marijuana burned

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Three persons are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations in Baguio City and Kalinga while P412,000.00 worth of marijuana was destroyed in Benguet on June 23.
    Reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. identified suspects as Marvin Pascual, 31; Walter Castillon, 37 and Rolando Lopez, 46.
    In Baguio City, Pascual was arrested at Barangay Gabriela Silang by Naguilian Road police after he sold suspected shabu weighing around 0.2 grams worth P1,360 while another 0.2 grams of the illegal drug valued at P1,360 was confiscated from him.
    In another buy-bust operation at Kayang Hilltop, Lopezs was arrested by Kennon Road police he sold suspected shabu weighing around 0.5 grams worth P3,400.
    In Tabuk City, Kalinga, Castillion was arrested by police he sold suspected shabu weighing 0.2 grams worth P1,360 while another 0.6 grams worth P4,080 of the illegal drug was confiscated from him.
    Inventory of seized items was witnessed by representatives from the Dept. of Justice, media, and barangay officials.
    The suspects and confiscated items were taken in custody of respective police.
    Meanwhile, elements of 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company patrolled mountains of Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet and discovered 2,000 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P400,000 and 300 marijuana seedlings valued at P12,000.
    All marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed at the site.
    No cultivator was apprehended during said operations.
    Investigation is on to identify cultivators.
