TUGUEGARAO CITY — Mayor
Samuel Siddayao of Gattaran town in Cagayan province suspended in-person
classes in a high school after 154 students and teachers displayed symptoms of
Covid-19.
On Monday, Dec. 5, Siddayao issued an executive order stating that the rural health unit and the municipal health office recommended that classes at Calaoagan Dackel National High School-Capissayan Annex be canceled after tests revealed that 145 students and nine teachers had fever, cough, and sore throat.
The mayor said the suspension of in-person classes began on Monday and would end on Dec. 16.
He said the school would shift to blended learning for two weeks or during that period “to promote the safety, security, and health protection of learners, faculty, and staff of the institution, as well as the public.”
The average daily attack rate (ADAR) of Covid-19 in Cagayan rose from 18.2 percent to 21.4 percent last week, the data showed.
ADAR refers to the number of individuals found infected for every 100,000 people.
