BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya -- A 40-year-old laborer ran amuck and hacked four people following a land dispute in Mabasa in Dupax del Norte town, Nueva Vizcaya on Tuesday, police said Wednesday.
Col. Camlon Nasdoman, Nueva Vizcaya police director, identified the attacker as Reygan Seguma and the wounded as Badua family members Renato, 77, and his sons Henry, 37; June, 32; and Fidel, 31, all from the said village. Seguma allegedly went to the house of the Badua family, hurled invectives, challenged Renato to a fight, and warned he would be killed.
Renato went outside to pacify Seguma, but he was hacked instead on his head and body. Henry tried to help his father Renato but was also hacked by Seguma on his arm and legs. June and Fidel later came out to help, but they were also hacked by Seguma on their bodies. Seguma was later allegedly mauled by the Baduas despite their wounds.
The Baduas were brought to the Dupax District Hospital for treatment of their hack wounds while Seguma was brought to the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital in Bambang town. Police found the bolo used in the hacking. A case for multiple attempted homicides is being readied against Seguma.
