Baguio council: Fix dangerous city walkways

BAGUIO CITY – The City Council urged the City Engineering Office to immediately repair city walkways with slip-resistant materials for safety of pedestrians.
The council said this will prevent accidents.
During the recent Scout Official for a Day session, the SOFAD Council adapted the proposal of SOFAD councilor Danielle S. Abarientos for immediate repair, rehabilitation, improvement and maintenance of standard walkways with slip-resistant materials as a priority policy of the city government for the safety of pedestrians.
The body said the current condition of walkways had been a matter of concern, especially on safety and wellbeing of the public due to signs of wear, damage, and deterioration posing risk and danger to pedestrians.
The Council said walkways were constructed with various materials such as bricks, tiles and plain concrete that contribute to the unattractiveness and lack of safety of said walkways.
The council said it is high time for the CEO to look into the matter and implement remedial measures.
