3 killed, 10 hurt in clash between gov’t troops, rebs in Tarlac

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga –Three rebels were killed and 10 others wounded Tuesday when government troops and communist rebels clashed at Mt. Balali, Anupol, Bamban, Tarlac.
Operating troops of 3rd Infantry Brigade led by Ist Lt. Randy P Asuela PA , encountered around 50 members of the New People’s Army at Mt. Balali where a firefight ensued for about 15 minutes.
As gunfire smoke cleared, three rebels were killed while another seven rebels were wounded.
Three government troopers were also wounded. Recovered from the scene were two backpacks containing subversive documents and one M16 rifle.
This, based on a report from Senior Supt. Oscar D Albayalde, chief of regional operations and plans division to Chief Supt. Nilo dela Cruz, newly designated regional police director of Region 3.
The Northern Luzon Command is reportedly now tracking down the withdrawing rebels, utilizing K9 units of Intelligence Service Group while Tarlac Police Provincial Office under Rudy Lacadin dispatched a team each from the 313rd Provincial Mobile Group.
Bamban, Capas and San Jose police are now conducting checkpoints in all possible exit points in the area.
Likewise, nearby hospitals and adjacent clinics were checked for possible wounded rebels who may have been brought in for medical treatment.
