TUGUEGARAO CITY - Special elections are being pushed in the province by The Commission on Elections to fill up the position of second district Rep. Florencio Vargas who died last week.

Comelec Region 2 Director Ederlino Tabilas bared this saying there was no other alternative.

For the holding of special elections, he said the provincial board has to pass a resolution addressed to Congress since nobody cannot be just appointed to the congressional post without such election.

Tabilas added the mandate of residents of the second district on who should sit as replacement of Vargas should be respected.

Like a regular election, Tabilas said candidates could file their certificates of candidacy for the purpose with the Comelec.

The remains of Rep. Vargas was buried here Monday attended by high profile personalities like politicians and his peers in Congress
