P1.2 M marijuana seized from 5 men

SAN GABRIEL, La Union- Joint personnel of San Gabriel and La Union police confiscated around 50 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth P1.250 million here and arrested five suspected pushers in a checkpoint here at Kilat, Bumbuneg last week.

Senior Supt. Ramon O. Purugganan, police provincial director, said the arrest of the suspects came after a concerned citizen in the area tipped off the police about the transportation of the illegal drugs.

Purugganan said his men set up a checkpoint following the tip. They later flagged down an maroon owner type jeep driven by one Emiliano Cabading, resident of Bumbuneg.

Police inspected the jeep and found four plastic bags containing 24 bricks of dried marijuana leaves.

Purugganan identified the four other suspects on board the vehicles as Ben Pacuyan, of Barangay Sapdaan, Santol, La Union; Meling Puklis and Roldan Puklis, both residents of Kibungan, Benguet and Josepha Dayao of Barangay Lon-oy, San Gabriel.
