Solon sets P15 M for scholarships, livelihood

BAGUIO CITY – Rep. Bernardo Vergara allotted at least P15 million from congressional funds for educational, livelihood and financial assistance to indigents.
Out of the amount, P7 million will be used for education of over 1,000 poor but deserving students from 128 barangays of the city while another P7 million will be used as livelihood assistance for enterprising residents.
Another P1 million will be given to the Baguio General Hospital as medical assistance to indigent patients who are in dire need of financial aid for their illness.
Baguio Rep. Bernardo M. Vergara said despite stringent rules and regulations being implemented by the Department of Budget and Management on allocation of their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), there was need to prioritize education, livelihood and health of indigent residents.
