Typhoon-damaged roads reopened

BONTOC, Mountain Province — After several days of being isolated from the rest of the Cordillera and northern Luzon due to numerous landslides and fallen trees that blocked roads as a result of Typhoon“Juan,” life in this landlocked province has normalized.

This, after the Halsema Highway and the roads from Mountain Province to Ilocos Sur, Bontoc-Tabuk, Mountain Province- Ifugao- Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province to Isabela and Mountain Province to Cagayan Road were declared passable by the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Cordillera after clearing operations.

Mountain Province Gov. Leonard Mayaen, chairman of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, hailed the concerted efforts among government agencies and local governments in immediately removing obstructions on the roads. -- Dexter See
