BAGUIO CITY - The city council during their session last Monday approved resolutions of condolences for the family of three public servants who served the people of Baguio in their own capabilities and areas of responsibility.

Former City Human Resource Management Officer Jose Dacawi has served 36 dedicated faithful years as a public servant until his retirement in September 2009.

Fondly called “Joedax” by colleagues, subordinates and fellow government employees at city hall and government line agencies, Mr. Jose Dacawi “manifested enthusiasm and dynamic energy towards performing his daily tasks that helped in the attainment of the city’s goal and objective.”

As further stated in the resolution, Joedax who passed on last July 30 at the age of 66, “is a loss not only to his family, but to the City of Baguio as well, for his being an inspiration in its quest for continued excellence and competence.”

The city council also extended sympathy to the bereaved families of the late Punong Barangay Perfecto “Penny” Jose of Pinget, and Barangay Kagawad Bernardo Calatan of Irisan.

PB Jose has served Pinget Barangay as Kagawad from July 2002 to October 2007, and as barangay head from then on, up to his death last July 30.

During his term of office, Pinget Barangay was a consistent nominee and awardee on nutrition programs, LupongTagapamayapa Award (LTA), Best Performing Barangay nominee for district 8, and the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) and other awards.

Said barangay achievements “illustrates his hardwork and dedication in the position where he (PB Jose) was seated,” the resolution reads.

“The dedication and commitment of PB Jose was well manifested by the impact of the programs conceived by the Barangay council under his leadership and motivation and which resulted to the positive results being enjoyed by the community,” the resolution further states. “His untimely demise has cut short his term and dreams or realizing the vision and mission which he, together with the Sangguniang Barangay members, have crafted for the development of Pinget Barangay.”

Barangay Kagawad Bernardo Calatan, who passed on at the age of 63, last July 31 has served as Punong Barangay of Irisan from May 1994 to July 2002, and as kagawad from October 2007 until his passage.

Appreciation is being given for the late PB Calatan who has implemented programs for Irisan with people “from diverse orientations and culture.” This is not an ordinary achievement, as Irisan has the largest barangay in terms of land and population, the resolution states.

“Bernardo Calatan was the voice of Irisan Barangay for several years and his accomplishments are the testimonies of his good deeds and intentions as a public servant and as a servant,” the resolution reads.

Deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences are extended through the resolutions, members of the council collectively stated as they approved the said legislative measures.
