PNP station of jueteng-free Ifugao town ‘best’ in Cordi

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao -- The police station of this jueteng-free town emerged the winner in the search for the “best MPS” for 2010 in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

PSI Alex Kimayong, town police chief said they received recently the award at Camp Dangwa, Benguet, regional police headquarters.

“We did our best in accomplishing various administrative and operational matters and we are lucky also because the municipal government and the community showed tremendous support in our effort to keep the town peaceful,’ Kimayong said.

With the active support of barangay officials to mobilize barangay peace-keeping action teams, crimes were reduced and the station encountered only 106 cases the whole year of 2010 of which 77 were solved and 43 were cleared, he added.

The MPS also served 15 warrant of arrests, issued 1,072, 30 police certification, 111pass permit to buyers of large cattle and corn, and recorded 25 traffic incidents.

The MPS also arrested two most wanted persons who were top 7 in the province and top 5 in the municipality.

The women and children’s protection desk also investigated a total of 32 cases
The municipality maintains its no jueteng policy and prohibits any form of gambling.

The MPS also conducted community assistance development such as medical dental and disaster relief activities, socio cultural programs, skills and livelihood development, barangay and schools visitations and others.

For their mobility to accomplish their tasks, the MPS has a total six vehicles, one of which was donated by the Alfonso Lista LGU.

Aside from this, the LGU headed by mayor Glenn Prudenciano allotted funds for the MPS in the amount of P658,624.00 used for fuel, oil and lubricants, repair and maintenance of vehicles and office supplies.

Kimayong added that the LGU here also donated the following equipment and supplies particularly for emergency purposes and search and rescue operations.

At present, the Al Lista MPS has 24 personnel manning the police station and three community police assistance centers.

The municipality has 20 barangays and a population of 28,237 with a ratio of one policeman is to 1,227 residents spread over a land area of 41,051 hectares.
Alfonso Lista is a fast growing and developing municipality and now becoming a center of trade to the adjacent municipalities with its corn and cattle industries.
