BAGUIO CITY – Four pedestrian lanes at lower, middle and upper Session Road would undergo experimental closure for 30 days starting Sept, 5.
This, after the traffic and transportation management committee presented plans to the city council on where pedestrian lanes would be located along Session Road.
TTMC technical consultant engineer Teodorico Tan said, pedestrian lanes along Session Road would not be removed but would be consolidated in select locations to balance spaces for pedestrian needs at the same time maintaining appropriate vehicular space for parking, local access, deliveries and movement.
The proposal would also incorporate installation of coordinated traffic lights along this locations thereby traffic congestions could be minimized.
Among pedestrian lanes eyed for consolidation are Lower Session Road Mercury Drug towards Pines theatre with the proposal for it to be transferred near Star Cafe while all corner crossing at Upper Mabini Street (PNB) to Session, Session to Lower Mabini intersection (Mcdo) including diagonal direction of pedestrian crossing will be maintained.
The pedestrian crossing along CID educational supply store will be removed while the zebra lines along Middle Session Road to Pusong Baguio Building (near steps going to Baguio Cathedral) towards Greenwich will be retained.
Zebra lines at PortaVaga going to La Azotea Building and Post Office towards Jose De Leon Building will also be consolidated at Upper Session Road near Patria De Baguio Building towards Kentucky Fried Chicken.
