Mt Prov town declared under dengue calamity

PARACELIS, Mountain Province -- The municipal government here issued Resolution No. 86 declaring the municipality under state of calamity due to increased number of dengue suspected cases.
This, to allow the local government to effectively and efficiently utilize its meager resources to mitigate negative effects of the spread of the dreaded disease.
Lee Ann Safilo of the Provincial Health Office said that since January, there are 303 reported dengue suspected cases in the municipality with barangay Poblacion having the highest number of 155 and was declared having a dengue outbreak due to the presence of clustered cases in several areas of the aforesaid barangay.
This is followed by Barangays Bantay and Bananao, with 65 and 48 cases, respectively. Both are declared dengue hotspot areas.
Safilo said Barangays Palitud has 12 cases, Bunot with 8, Bacarri and Buringal with three cases each. Most of the victims are elementary pupils.
With the declaration, the municipal government here mobilized their calamity fund for the procurement of medicines and dengue testing kits.
